One way to get a politician to withdraw a bill requiring drug-testing for welfare applicants? Just tell him lawmakers also have to get tested, and see how fast he boomerangs. Rep. Jud McMillin, a Republican member of the Indiana General Assembly, took back his drug-testing bill after one of his helpful Democratic colleagues amended it ever so slightly.

I read that and it said they tried this before back in the 90's but it was ruled unconstitutional for requiring lawmakers to do it.
More do as I say not as I do.
Just like they forced Obamacare on us in the wee hours of Christmas Eve--but are EXEMPTED themselves.
most of the drugs they are on are legally prescribed
and alcoholism is legal and there are a lot of those Ted Kennedy was no exception
I once knew a capitol hill staffer who told me cocaine use was rampant at the social parties and get-togethers in Congress. As was pot smoking and casual sex (especially among the married members). They LOVE to tell us how to live and what do to with our lives and money. BUT, somehow they think there are different rules for them. And since they make the rules, there certainly ARE different rules for them. Public MASTERS.....
