I'm going to keep this brief as I'm fuming this morning. Just ready on the Daily Crimes/Liars website the following quote from Slick Ricky:
"Our community came together like nothing I've seen before", Pollitt said. "We've got people saying they are willing to pay more taxes".
Really Slick Ricky? Let me just tell you one thing Mr. Rick Pollitt, it's not what the majority of this county wants is to raise our taxes to pay for an over priced, ridiculous, absurd, foolish, ludicrous, nonsensical, unbelievably overpriced project that you want to build in a flood zone. Rick Pollitt you were voted in to do what is best for this county. We put our faith in you that you would do what was right, logical and fiscally sound for this county. I can't wait until I can vote you out of office. I'll just let everybody else comment on that since I don't think I can keep my mouth from cussing like a sailor.

I am one of those telling him I am willing to pay more taxes. I'm sorry you aren't one of "us," but we are all entitled to our opinion. For every one of you who wants to cuss him, there are just as many of us who want to applaud him. Go figure - that's America.

If you read the whole article, it is clear that Pollitt is trying to undo the damage done by the initial council vote. Now, money that the state was prepared to give, may not be on the table. It appears that many of our officials were saying much to assure that money still comes to Wicomico County. I hope they were persuasive.

We have a select few rich folks who think its their duty to speak for me and for others... And since Rick Pollit is such a complete moron, he listens to them and uses them to get what he wants...
I NEVER see or hear any of these so call rich folk whom make it their business to put words in my mouth to give up anymore of their money... yet they can say "Sure we want taxes, and fees", "We will be glad to pay more for something you will get less of in return"...
If this school is so important MR Rick Pollit, why don't you relinquish part of your salary to help pay for it and then maybe I will agree to a 21 cent tax hike over 3 years... in fact I WILL BE GLAD to pay more taxes if everyone in the public eye or runs for a govt position relinquishes say 2/3rds of your pay or whereas anyone in the local govt get no income adjustment for any reason or for cost of living then maybe I will pay more taxes...
i appluad those who are willing to pay higher taxes,they are good citizens to have in our county.Where will the list be kept that these good folks will sign up for their voluntary increase?

Based on the current value of homes in this area most of us have been overpaying for the last three or four years.Your welcome for the contribtion but no more taxes please.
I say you folks who want it pay for it. I can't afford any more taxes. I just don't have it. I guess you rich folks will drive the rest of us out of the county. Perhaps then you will have to pay our share also. Godd luck with that. I don't mind working for what i get but don't keep taking it away. I pay 31% federal rate now. Wait till MD gets their increases...........

Both sides of the issue say that they are in the majority, but who's to know? If you feel strongly that taxes should not be raised, then you're probabbly going to say that the "majority" feel this way. If you feel that we need the school and accept the necessary tax increase, you're going to say this is what the majority wants.
This issue is so divided, and the proponents and opponents have drawn the line in the sand; obviously, whatever decision is ultimately made is going to bring out some strong emotion.
I am one of the ones willing to pay higher taxes for education. In the spirit of disclosure, I am a retired teacher.
11:36 here. I do not have children going to Bennett or any other school. Higher taxes will mean sacrifice for all of us; I am willing to do my part. I do put a high value on education and I wish half the people who comment on here could at least spell the words they are trying to put forth.
Recalls are not permitted by Maryland's constitution.
