THERE IS NO UNDERAGE NIGHT CLUB IN DOWNTOWN SALISBURY

There's been a lot of talk in the last two weeks about an underage night club on the Plaza. This is not true.

There was one several months ago but they have been closed for months. The young man who had created the club even went so far as to look into a liquor license but he never followed up on it.

Now, that being said, last week there was an event in which some claimed there were about 300 people in a massive fight outside the building above. Some media sources jumped the gun by claiming it was an underage night club but this just isn't true.

A group of college students went to the owner of the building and asked if they could rent the space, (also shown above) that used to be a restaurant. Again, this is different space from the OLD underage club from months ago and also a completely different group of people.

The owner agreed to rent them the space for one evening and things went perfectly fine, until the very end. A group of thugs had allegedly been waiting outside in the parking lot who had nothing to do with the students hosting the private party. They had targeted ONE individual and once that individual came outside they ganged up on him and beat the crap out of him.

The owner of the building met with States Attorney Matt Maciarello and Chief Barbara Duncan where they had told him there were some 300 people there. There was NOT 300 people there. There was about 80 people. There were not multiple fights.

This incident has been blown way out of proportion. Mind you, there may be some questions as to IF the owner can rent space to private parties and I'm actually pretty confident he will think twice about ever doing so again. The City needs to rethink how they allow businesses to operate in the City in order to clamp down on such practices.

In the mean time I wanted to clear the air about this topic.

Watch the video carefully and you will see a group of people going after one individual. It was NOT a massive brawl, as stated in the video. Notice the reporter stating they couldn't locate the VICTIM, (not victims). Maciarello stated there was some 300 people, again, not true. I'm NOT knocking Matt, I simply do not feel he was properly informed because the video proves different.

My question would be...why is it that the vast majority of time that there is a large group fighting outside a club, it involves "African Americans" and usually ends up with someone pulling a gun. Not being a racist, just stating facts.

Jack, come on now. There was NO gun pulled at this location. Your not being fair.

The owner is Wayne Cox, just trying to make a quick buck!

I agree with Jack not to be racist either. It seems like as far as the violence that goes on at Salisbury establishments it always involves African Americans. Look at GULLYS, VFW West Main Street location, The former AMERICAN LEGION West Road location closed. Gully's someone lost there life also at the VFW.And if I am mistaken wasn't there also someone shot at the former Mulligans that was also African American and Chef Fred's its only a matter of time for Brew River also or mabey these are isolated incidences.Does Salisbury have a gang promblem?

He was speaking in general not about this specific event.

And I think he is right. Whenever there is a large group of black people, whether it be a party, at a bar or a picnic, there always seems to be a fight. Especially if alcohol is involved.(or drugs)

Like the previous poster, I am not trying to be racist. It's just how I see things regarding this type of event.

And I'm not trying to knock you either Joe.

Man look at the old nightclub where the Bank of Delmarva is, the blacks and the owner ran that place into the ground!

We need a Charles Bronson type of guy walking these streets.

4:55 -- your comment reads like something coming from someone who is racist, especially the "I'm not racist" part, that's usually a big red flag.

5:50 -- another generalized comment ... Crime in Salisbury -- or in the US -- is not exclusive to people of color.

Excellent post Joe. The reporting by what is seen as the "reliable media" in Salisbury is a riot ... No pun intended.

Why doesn't the States Attorney dig a little bit and get the facts correct before he says anything. We all know what assume does and he certainly looks like one when he doesn't do his job.

C'mon Joe...you be fair. Re-read my posting...I was not referring to the Salisbury incident But if my eyesight is not completely gone, what I saw on the video was blacks doing the assaulting and some whites trying to stop them. Crime thruout the country is not exclusive to people of color.... Then why when the black population is only around 13% are the prisons filled with a vast majority of blacks. As I mentioned this is not a racist remark, it is fact and anyone that has not seen this over the years has their head up their rectum. I have seen it time and time again here in Florida since moving here 16 years ago.

I think he was just trying to avoid the typical racist accusations before they were made. Like yours for example.

No but the frequency of crimes does. Unless you are one of those who say the F.B.I. stats are made up by the white man to make blacks look bad.

But thanks for you OPINION.

"Not to be racist" is another way of saying "hey I am racist"

The camera is only capturing one spot, there very well may have been other fights that were not on camera. In the very beginning of the video a dispersed group can be seen beginning to gather and numerous people can be seen in the background. At one point about 35 people can be seen involved in the fight and based on clothing it can easily be noted those were not the same people recorded earlier on the tape, so how do we know there were not hundreds of people there? I don't know, I wasn't there. In all fairness unless you or other commenters were there, none of us know the true numbers or what took place out of the cameras capture field.

I rest my case

PRINCESS ANNE ---- A shooting at Darnell's Rainbow Inn early Sunday morning left one man injured, according to state police.

The victim's injuries were nonlife-threatening, according to police.

Investigators are still searching for a sole gunman in the bar shooting on Greenwood Road at about 2 a.m., according to authorities.

No weapon has been recovered at this time; however, shell casings consistent with those from a pistol were located on the scene.

I've been to azul about 7 times for these parties, this crap never happens. I ask that the City of Salisbury officials focus on REAL crime, like the stabbing on East Collage Ave 2 weeks ago or shots fired by the Meth Lab people near Madison. Stop chasing down college kids and shutting down rented basements. We are tired of being arrested to fill Police quotas, tired of the Mayor running us out of city limits with housing regulation. This IS a college town, and you treat your graduates like crap... no wonder we all flee with our diplomas in hand...this little town will remain a dysfunctional and dismal location until policy changes to allow college students room to grow.

The issue is with the young man and the several hoodlums outside of the party - not the party, the party goers, the live music played there, the guy who rented the space, the guy who leased his space, the guy who designed the exit of the building there, the men who paved the road the hoodlums took to get there, etc. The camera was deceptive in showing that many people involved in a fight, because it shows all of the people that are leaving the party at one time. 300 people couldn't even fit in any one of those office spaces in that building, it was not designed for that. It was 15 local hoodlums jumping an 18-22 year old college kid for something as menial as a couple hundred dollar debt. None of the people in the party were involved in beating the kid up. No one that was coming out of the building seemed to want to help him either, so the party was completely removed from the incident. The lessor requires anyone who rents the building to have security at the entrance subjecting all entrants to pat downs and searches, so those on their way home from a non-alcohol/drug free environment are taking the wrap for something they are completely unaffiliated with. No wonder this city is stuck where it is, government official's focus, resources and MONEY, is spent trying to isolate and confine the college kids cause they "aint from around here", to protect a bunch of local thugs beating up an 18 year old kid...who happened to be there. No wonder 4,000 new young adults move here every year to increase their self-value, yet this place is stagnant as a result of the 4000 educated adults that move elsewhere every year because in the past 5 years they have felt unwelcome, disliked, and nothing to offer from this city...why should they stay here? Wake up people, CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION are NOT EVIL!!!
