Troopers Investigate Robbery/Assault Claymont

Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 9:45 p.m.

Victim:
33 year old male from New Castle, De

Suspects:
5 black males, 19-25 years of age. (No further description)

Resume:
Claymont-Troopers are investigating the robbery and assault of a 33 year old man that occurred Saturday evening in the rear parking lot of the Claymont Elementary School.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. as the victim was walking on the elevated pedestrian crosswalk over I-95 towards the Claymont Elementary School. The victim had just exited the crosswalk and was walking in the rear of the school when he was approached from behind by the five suspects. The suspects knocked the victim to the ground, kicked him in the head and body, and demanded his property. The suspects rifled through his pockets removing his wallet, and removed his backpack that he was carrying that contained personal property. The suspects fled westbound, across the pedestrian crosswalk towards the Ashbourne Hills development. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for multiple injuries received during the assault. The hospital status and disposition of the victim is unknown at the time of this release.
