Mastermind of one of the biggest financial scandals in history moving to halfway house

Federal prison officials have moved the former finance chief of failed energy giant Enron Corp. from a prison in Louisiana to a halfway house in Houston.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons website shows Andrew Fastow was moved from a Pollack, La., prison to a low-security community corrections facility in Houston. The Houston Chronicle reports he'll likely remain there until Dec. 17.

Thousands (actually, I think the number was 40,000) employees of Enron lost their entire 401(k) balances because of the actions of this man. Thousands of 55-65 year old men and women looked forward to retirement until this slug DELIBERATELY ruined their futures. Now, those men and women are working at Wal-Mart and living with their children, broke and humiliated. Steal a loaf of bread or a bottle of cough syrup for your kids and the police will chase you through a dozen neighborhoods and call out the helicopters to spotlight you. Then you may get a couple of years in prison. God help you if its your third offense -- that loaf of bread could end up being a LIFE SENTENCE. NO parole. BUT, steal HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS from 40,000 people (and countless other stockholders) and you get a cushy sentence, play tennis and backgammon, and after the heat dies down, your prior "campaign contributions" (bribes) to the rich and powerful get you a halfway house deal. I wonder who will be giving him his "consulting" work when he is (soon) released?
