MARYLAND STATE POLICE TO HONOR FALLEN HEROES - NAME OF FALLEN TROOPER TO BE ADDED TO MEMORIAL THIS YEAR

(Pikesville, MD) – Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Terrence B. Sheridan will lead the ceremony tomorrow to honor state troopers who have given their lives in the line of duty at the annual Maryland State Police Fallen Heroes Ceremony.

Colonel Sheridan will be joined by surviving family members of the 42 state troopers who made the ultimate sacrifice. They will witness the family of Trooper First Class Wesley Brown, who was shot and killed last June, unveil his name on the State Police Fallen Heroes Memorial. Also attending the event will be scores of current and retired state troopers who are there to honor their fellow troopers during National Police Week.

In addition to Colonel Sheridan, Maryland State Police Corporal Phillip Nickerson will be speaking. Cpl. Nickerson’s brother, Centreville Police Officer Michael Nickerson, was shot and killed ten years ago. Cpl. Nickerson fulfilled his brother’s dream of becoming a state trooper. Cpl. Nickerson’s son is now a recruit in the current State Police Academy training class and will be here tomorrow.
