Pollitt to Meet with County Council

Some will say – “Better late than never.”

Tomorrow morning, Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt will meet with the county council to discuss the upcoming county budget:

County Executive Rick Pollitt is pleased to announce that he will meet with the County Council in a work session to begin preliminary budget discussions. The meeting will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the MAC Center, Suite 100, 909 Progress Circle, Salisbury, Md beginning at 9:00 a.m.

This meeting will be held at the MAC Center, near the Holly Center, just off Snow Hill Road.

While I am glad that Pollitt is actually meeting with the council, we have to ask a few questions – “Why now?” and “Why at the MAC Center?”.  The council has requested meetings earlier in the process and have been denied.  The budget is basically complete and Pollitt will be introducing the new budget in about a week.  Pollitt has consistently refused to attend council meetings and has now set this meeting away from the GOB.  Originally, this meeting was given no public notice and was done so only at the insistence of the council.

While I hope that this meeting will be productive, I also hope that members of the public turn out to see what is happening.

Pollitt is just not the right person for the job! He is a total waste and should resign immediately. Everyone who voted for him should never vote again.

Why the MAC center? What's wrong with the Council Chambers?

What's wrong with the MAC Center? Sunshine On My Shoulders Makes Me Happy! Some of you whiners are never happy.

Answer me this. Why does he meet with people and still vote the way He want's to? Totally diregarding the will of the people. How long do we let this continue?

News Flash, 2:56, perhaps he is listening to folks other than yourself. There is another side than you see presented on this blog, and many, including myself, are glad he is listening to us!

Maybe Pollitt has realized he has to change things. This is a beginning. Give it a chance. The Council hasn't had good moments either. They tend to focus on the small stuff and make a big deal of it and play politics with the big stuff. Joe Holloway is a prime example of someone who is worried about $50 when the ship is sinking. Let's see some LEADERSHIP and STATEMANSHIP from the council. Prettyman and Barkovitch have been there a long time - what are they doing to be leaders???

4:06p I believe Prettyman & Barkovitch and even Joe Holloway have shown leadership in their role as the Legislative Branch of our government. Ricky is the one who keeps pushing for the new BMS and he knows all too well the county is out of money. Ricky is the one pushing for LEOPS for the deputies and he knows the county can't afford it. Ricky WAS the one pushing for the labor code to be binding on the council and he was sooo wrong. Even a judge ruled on it. Thanks goodness for our conservative council members with their vision and leadership skills.

Why do taxpayers pay for dependent health coverage when an employee retires. This is costing alot of money for someone who never worked one day for the County.

How many retired employees have dependents? Can't be that many people that had kids that late in life. Why don't we start worrying about important things, rather than more away from the employees that have obviously stepped up to the plate. Even when faced with furlough days for 3 years. (that is, except the BOE)

4:44 Thanks but can we get the full story of your past?

Mr. Pollitt may need to carry several great big Q-tips with him to hand out.
