Broader Sales Tax A Good Idea To Fix Deficit,

Senate Budget chairman says, and O’Malley likely to propose tax hike to fund transportation

Widening Maryland’s sales tax to include more services is “the place to go” in fixing the state’s persistent structural deficit, the chairman of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee said Thursday. Sen. Edward Kasemeyer, D-Howard, also said, “I’m assuming some kind of revenue increase” will be part of a transportation package Gov. Martin O’Malley will sponsor in the fall special session of the legislature that he will call to deal with congressional redistricting.

They just don't get it in Annapolis. They think the answer us to always raise taxes and never consider cutting spending. I don.t remember who said it, but someone once said you deserve the government you get. So as long as we keep sending the same people back to Annapolis we get the government we deserve. Unfortunately we live on the shore and have no real voice in Annapolis, but we send people like Cane, Conway and Mathias and they will all sell us out. They are our Judas and cheaper than 30 pieces of silver. They only wanr little perks like a chairmanship or committe assignment.

the "persistent" structual deficit? Do ya think it may be CAUSED by "persistent" overspending by career politicians "persist" in spending more money than they know we have? They have no shame and apparently, not that much intelligence, since they seem unable to add or subtract, unless your talking about adding more taxes, fines, fees, and surcharges onto the citizens, which will subtract from their ability to provide for their families. But the reality is that they are only STARTING to gouge us....

if you cross teh baybridge headed east, and do not have a local drivers license its a $200 fee
