GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY TO CONTINUE “MARYLAND FORWARD” SERIES WITH FORUM ON GUNS AND GANG VIOLENCE

Governor to introduce new open warrant system to assist law enforcement

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley will join Mayor Rawlings-Blake, as well as leaders and stakeholders in law enforcement and public safety for an important discussion on our shared progress and opportunities for further collaboration in the areas of guns and gang violence.  The Governor will also introduce innovative new technology, now available to law enforcement statewide, including a searchable, comprehensive warrant database of all open warrants in Maryland and new facial recognition software for public safety use.  Governor O’Malley will facilitate a discussion with attendees on how progress in the areas of guns, gang violence, and public safety technology impacts our ability to be a winner in the new economy.

Following the State of the State address, Governor O’Malley announced a series of “Maryland Forward” local policy forums to advance many of those initiatives, serving as a continuation of the “Maryland Forward” forum series before the 2011 Inauguration.  Today’s forum is the third in a series of smaller groups of local stakeholders throughout the 2011 legislative session focused on specific policy areas that will help Maryland be a winner in the new economy, protect our neighborhoods, and create jobs.

Facial recognition software, huh? People ridiculed me when I blasted the government for taking millions of pictures of everyday, law-abiding citizens and storing them FOREVER. The government conducting surveillance on innocent citizens? Doesn't look like paranoia NOW, does it? And I can predict O'Malley's plan, too. FURTHER restrict citizens (the law abiding, innocent people who are the victims of those to whom gun laws are a joke) from owning or carrying guns, put more layers of control on guns and ammunition, and finally, establish a "commission" to study why kids join gangs and how social workers and programs might "steer" them to become good citizens and help them feel good about themselves. Which will cost millions. He has a small army that protects him (paid for by the citizens in Maryland with a job) and his family. When he travels, its with an armed police convoy doing 70-80 mph. But, of course, he knows whats best for us...it just doesn't apply to HIM....
