Because WBOC & WMDT Said So

What's the job where you can be wrong 90% of the time and still keep your job?

I know that job...it's being "editor" of Salisbury News!!! Really Joe, unless you are an expert of weather forecasting and have something valid to offer, keep it to yourself. You'd be all over these guys if there was severe weather and they had not forecasted it.

Technically, the National Weather Service said so. The stations are relaying information to the viewers.

I don't thing they do a good job at much of anything generally, but they are making sure everyone is prepared, just in case.

I do not envy them with this. If they are wrong, with either forecast, they get lambasted.

It may be a bit of production overkill, but I would rather see people ready for what might come. If they are wrong, so what? It does not rain. If they are right, they they are right. Again big deal.

anonymous 7:26, I'm never wrong. LOL

Well, maybe once a year, or less. The article said 90% of the time.

Take up a class in meteorology and you'll find out that the weather is constantly changing. The effect of the change increases since we are on a peninsula, surrounded by water. I'd like to see you get up there and predict the weather.

anonymous 8:40, PREDICT? With billions of dollars worth of equipment and studios, "predicting" is just a joke.

How many times in the summer do they say its NOT going to rain on the weekend and then it does.

Yeah, draw in those beach goers for the almighty dollar.

All I'm saying is, the weather is NOT going to be SEVERE. There's my prediction.

These guys do a fairly ok job I think. If they say there is a 50% chance of rain and it rains thats ok. This means they were half right and half wrong. We all at one time or another have been told we would recieve something and the promise never happened.

Joe, I am with you! These local stations go too far with their "weather predicting" We got some rain today. Wow. Barracade your doors and tape up your windows......

Dont you all think for one minute that the business's at the beach arent dishing money out to the stations. If there is an actual 50 percent chance of rain in the summer the news would probably say that it was 20 percent so OC doesn't lose any money. And then if it does ran the news says well we did say there was a 20 percent chance.

My prediction is we are due for an early spring thunderstorm. It will sound like the thunder is comming from a tunnel and will shake our windows.Just like history weather repeats itself also.It will happen in just a few hours from now.I will take it a step farther and throw in a little small hail to boot.Trust me I am 100% accrurate.

I still find it impressive that we are able to watch a channel that tells us a basic idea of what we can expect for weather..and it's free
