Donald Wars With Whoopi Over Obama's Eligibility

Billionaire developer and potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump got into a heated war of words on national television today as he questioned why Barack Obama has not revealed his long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate to help demonstrate his eligibility for the presidency.

"I want him to show his birth certificate! There's something on that birth certificate that he doesn't like," said Trump on ABC's "The View."

The comment enraged co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who fired back, "I think that's the biggest pile of dog mess I've heard in ages. It's not 'cause he's black is it?"

"It has nothing to do with that," said Trump.

Goldberg interjected, "Because I've never heard any white president asked to be shown the birth certificate. When you become a president of the United States of America, you know that he's American. I'm sorry, that's B.S."

"I really believe there's a birth certificate," Trump explained. "Why doesn't he show his birth certificate? And you know what? I wish he would. Because I think it's a terrible pall that's hanging over him. He should show his birth certificate.

"There's something on his birth certificate he doesn't want to show?" an incredulous Barbara Walters asked. "That's a terrible thing to say."

Yes, I think so.

Think about the night Obama was born. His Caucasian mother and grandmother check into the hospital. His father had long since fled and is nowhere in sight. Following the birth, hospital workers complete the appropriate paperwork. On what basis would that paperwork not reflect Caucasian?

How could someone campaign as the Country's first Black President if the birth certificate states otherwise?

Actually, he's our first HALF-black (maybe less, but that depends on who you believe regarding his heritage) President. Even if he was, so what? Historic yes, but being black makes him no better or worse and entitles him to no more or less consideration than anyone else. Didn't Dr. King say that a man should be judged based on the content of his character and not by the color of his skin? Guess some people only want it that way when it works in their favor.

Whoopi needs to be in a home.

Okay, let's judge him by his character.

Hmmm, that's not good either.

The View is really a lousy place to get your news...who cares about Alec Baldwin trashing his daughter or anything about Whoopie Goldberg?...

Good for Donald..can you imagine it being a Republican with something to hide..great to see him with so much energy

Thats food for thought--maybe his certificate lists him as "white".
and as far as citizenship-long as his mother was an American wouldnt he be too?

Maybe some missed my point because it was too subtle. Obama's campaign was a cold blooded political battle regardless of race, principle, or anything else. A room full of Democratic political strategists sat down at some point and discussed what needed to be done to win regardless of anything. When you consider that Obama got better than 90% of the Black vote, his strategists were right on running a Black candidate. My guess is that, somewhere along the line, it was realized that the birth certificate as documented presented a risk to the win strategy so it was "locked down". All the birther claims actually provided a good distraction. It will probably make a good movie some day.

I don't intend to offend anyone but I think it's important to openly share thoughts that some may have never considered.

I'd vote for Trump. We need a business person to put things back in order (and he has balls too!).

@5:59 - The Constitution says the President must be a "natural born" citizen. Problem is that has never been defined by the Supreme Court.

It wasn't an issue before because other Presidents didn't have foreign fathers.

And the birth certificate is just the start. I want to see his college transcripts, his passport records, and his Selective Service Registration record.

What's he hiding?
