FREE COURSE Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)

A seven week course designed for the general public taught as a partnership between Worcester County Emergency Services and the American Red Cross Lower Shore Chapter.

To be held on Wednesday mornings at
Ocean Pines Fire Department South Station
April 13 - May 25
9:00 AM - Noon
(note April 27 class will be held 9 AM - 1 PM)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Included in this course is the American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED with First Aid training.  The AED is an automatic external defibrillator which delivers a shock to the heart in the event of cardiac arrest.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive a CPR/AED certificate which is valid for two (2) years, Standard First Aid certificate valid for two (2) years, and a CERT completion certificate which does not have an expiration date.

Upon registration, students will receive a complete outline of the course schedule.

Register by phone at 410-749-5331 or www.redcrosslowershore.org
