Does Delmar Maryland Need A Code & Compliance Department?

Unless this building is completely worthless, why wouldn't the owners put up some new plywood and shingles to restore it. I know the economy isn't what is used to be but from what I've heard about Tom McGuire, (jobless) he was able to obtain funding from the Town to put a new roof on his house and a brand new kitchen. Perhaps this property owner should look into those same options.

Delmar has a Code Enforcement Officer, Gaylon Bounds. However, this guy hasn't done his job in YEARS but they keep him around. Makes no sense to me. He must have some good stuff on somebody for this guy to still have this job!

Perhaps the best place to find out
why the owner has not put up plywood or tore it down is to ask the owner. I am sure no one has the amswer to that question except the owner.

As far as a Code Enforcement Officer, just take a ride through all the towns around and you will find reason to ask that question in every town.

Maybe he is spending all his money on a truck.

Just how do you get funding from a town for home improvements?

The question is,
Does delmar maryland need a code and compliance department? The answer is, No. Where would the funding for this department come from? Tax and spend. But, hire my friends.

No town needs a code and compliance in my opinion. It's a total waste of money.

it's his garage...he can fix it or not. Next thing someone is going to be telling you that you MUST change the oil in your truck.....some people do and some don't. No nanny state!

It's not a waste of money IF they do their JOB! That goes for ALL government jobs.

They're called CDBG Grants, contact Delmar Town Hall and they'll let you know about them.

Like the first person said, Delmar has one but he is worthless. He has been seen shopping at the Seaford Walmart during the normal business day in the town vehicle. He selectively enforces the code around town. The need to hire someone to do the job correctly and maybe Delmar wouldn't look like a ghetto.
