This one of many events in my lifetime that I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. America stood still for 7 days after JFK was murdered out of shock and respect.
I was a young man, 24 yrs. old, in the Navy stationed at Naval Station, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. Once the word came through our communication system, everyone was almost in a state of shock. It was unbelievable. When we got back to the barracks all the men were gathered around the TV. It was on Friday and most of us stayed glued to the TV. We were resticted to the base, not knowing if we would be attacked since our Commander-in-Chief and been violently murdered. What a sad, sad time in our national history.
