New York Gubernatorial Hopeful Slams Gays

Paladino: Kids shouldn't be 'brainwashed' into thinking homosexuality is acceptable

The Republican candidate for governor, Carl P. Paladino, told a gathering in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Sunday that children should not be “brainwashed” into thinking that homosexuality was acceptable, and criticized his opponent, Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, for marching in a gay pride parade earlier this year.

Addressing Orthodox Jewish leaders, Mr. Paladino described his opposition to same-sex marriage.

“That’s not how God created us,” he said, reading from a prepared address.

To say that being homosexual is unacceptable is like saying that being black or having green eyes is unacceptable. It is now known that homosexuality is largely genetic, so we have no control over our sexuality. We are what we are. One does choose one's lifestyle but not one's sexual orientation.

Sure, bashing the gays is really going to put a dent in unemployment.

When desperate trash the gays.

There has been no definitive genetic component of homosexuality established. The homosexual movement would certainly like to find such a link, because that would remove responsibility and make them victims.
It seems to me that a genetic component to homosexuality and the theory of evolution have to be opposed to each other. If the result of evolution is the removal of genetic material that is detrimental to the propagation of an organism, then how could a homosexual gene persist?

How many celibate gays do you know?

Can they "inherit" the disease without acting on it?

Really

What is this guy thinking?? He is already way behind in the polls. In a liberal NY, this kind of talk will not help him. He is running against Andrew Cuomo, after all.

Whether or not you agree with his views, you have to question his judgment. These were not extemporaneous remarks. He read from a prepared statement.

He is a crude and vulgar man. He has sent emails depicting women with barnyard animals, which he dismisses as being "human." Could someone hate women more?? No sir, you are sub-human, animal in fact.

This is the same guy who said he would not allow women to have abortions in cases of incest. He is one of those people who is convinced, beyond any doubt, that HE knows whats best for everyone. Those kinds of people are truly dangerous --- think of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc. Agree with them or else. He is just TOO self-righteous to lead in the position he seeks. I'm Republican and wouldn't vote for him...he's a little too scary for me.

Yes, the gays choose to be gay, because obviously it is so much fun! They just run around, free to do whatever they want, without fearing ostracizing from family, religion, friends, and society at large. They get to marry, and share in their partners' death benefits. They're treated as equals and are revered throughout the country. They're totally accepted everywhere and life is so very, very easy for them. That's why they choose to be gay.

Remember that first person you "crushed on?" That scary, wonderful pang that clenched your stomach and made your heart flutter at first sight? How much control did you have over that? How much choice was involved in that one magical moment? It's no different for homosexuals.

In this ignorant and hateful diatribe, Mr. Paladino refers to gays as "perverts and pornographers." Yet, he has admitted to sending porn email. Class guy. Perhaps he'll send such from his state computer at taxpayer expense.

He also says that homosexuality is not a "valid lifestyle." Yet, he has an illegitimate child with his mistress. Is that a "valid lifestyle?"

However, the question is not his hypocritical opinions, but rather, can he, as governor, assure gays equal protection under the law? I think not.

@1120

so you recognize it as a disease too?

Here comes the homophobia again....marching with gay people is a sign of support, not a promotion.Jesse Jackson marched with them in the 70s'-is he promoting it?I do not think we should "glamorize" homosexuality to kids but we shouldnt teach them to hate people who are different either.

When I was a kid, I let others do the thinking and influence me. I'm not a kid anymore and I've always been a straight male, but have far more gay friends than many men that I know, simply because many gays (male and female) are really intellegent, artsy people(I deal in art). They collect and understand what alot of straight individuals will never care to learn and their knowledge base is diverse, so conversation is a pleasure. I remember a young boy younger than myself that was my younger sister's friend, a really good kid with a good spirit. Most of his friends were girls because he was very feminine, thin and small. He was always ridiculed in school and I never liked it, but I didn't want to stand out for sticking up for him, so I said nothing. His mother and father were drunks, two mean brothers and he moved away right after high school. Years later, I learned he committed suicide, so my stance today is clear. Even though I'm straight, I'll not stand by any longer and watch the bullies or align myself with a single one of them, I'll let God do all that judgement stuff, I'm not qualified because he didn't give me the brain power necessary to factor in everything in life. I'll not march with gays in parades, but I also won't beat them down verbally. All young kids today, regardless of sexual orentation, deserve nothing short of acceptance. A kid that feels he or she is gay has to have a really full plate in life and I'll stick up for any of them simply because I didn't stick up for my sister's friend, when I knew inside that I should have. That was 50 years ago and if you open your mind you can learn alot in 50 years. This jerk beating down gays equates to that church protest at veterns funerals, all of them really suck, big time.

6:06 PM

What a wonderful person you must be! The world could use a lot more people like you!

6:06, come out of the closet already!

6:06 tried marriage with two different wives through his life, not really bad at it, but not really good at it either. People to many times want to incorporate you into their problems. I don't like problems, so I choose to live alone, as I have for the last 25 years. That's my prefererance. I have no closet to come out of because if I were gay, I would gladly tell you right now, as I couldn't care less what you or anyone else thinks. There's an old adage that goes like this, "upon entering a room, if a man looks behind the door, he probably has at some point in time stood there". That can easily translate to those pointering a gay finger, Dig it? 7:44
