Letter To The Editor

Yesterday(Monday) afternoon I was riding down Waverly Drive in Salisbury and I happened to see a chiefs car from the Salisbury Fire Department being detailed at the Inside out Car Wash place. Can you or any of your readers tell us why a fire chiefs car needs to be detailed by "professional?" Is this being paid for by the tax payers of Salisbury? With the economy the way it is I can't imagine why a city department would even consider paying someone to detail a car. Aren't police officers and fireman being furloughed? When with this wasteful spending end by the fire department and Jim Ireton and the rest of the city council?

Wow atleast they could have taken it to a place that did good work!
they may want to check to see if everything is still in the car, that place is a bunch of crack heads!

What a shame that Jim Ireton is letting the Salisbury Fire Department continue to waste tax dollars.

9:57 AM

Look Moron 9:57 AM this isn't petty. This is a total disregard of tax dollars being wasted daily by Gordy, Hoppes and Bragg. It is obviously not anything like the $14 million dollar Fire Palace, but $100 here and there adds up pretty quick.

Maybe the person that drives that car is paying for it themselves? Or maybe they had a gift certificate to use? Don't always assume the worst...
For the record, Inside Out Car Care does a great job, I've used them for years and have never had anything missing from any of my cars.

I would not take my vehicles anywhere else but Messicks Auto Clean. Bunky and the boys do an excellent job for a very fair price.

The alternative is to hire people to wash the fleets of vehicles using city water which is monitored for usage. Either way you end up paying for it, it just depends on which method is more economically sound. Bottom line is the vehcle fleets will be washed and maintained. How much will you pay??? Who knows.

They can darn well "detail" their own cars.....people can't even buy groceries and these fools are getting cars detailed?

I think if we are having to pay for these vehicles and the gas and all the other costs, the least they could do is get off their lazy butts and wash them theirselves.

Get a life!

A car got detailed. Big deal!

Last time my small car was detailed it was $180. That's a lot of money; surely there's a better way for the city to maintain the cleanliness of these vehicles!???

I see that car and the fire trucks all the time. At Giant and Red Door.

Good grief. They are given a vehicle. They should maintain it themselves. How many would like to have a vehicle given to them & only have to maintain it?

They are paying private lawn service contractors to cut grass at city buildings/properties. I assume because furloughs have taken employees off the job. Go Mayor Ireton, keep up the good work!!!

The city also pays private lawn services to cut grass at city properties, I guess with all city employees taking furloughs somebody has to cut grass. Good job Mayor Ireton keep up the good work!!!!!!
