Joint statement following a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 26:We worked on issues of mutual concern. We identified seven key areas to work on and identified common ground on most of them. The Bus Contractors are meeting as soon as possible to see if there is a strong agreement. The Board of Education will meet September 16th to act on recommendations from the group. I'm a little confused about the issues . From the information that I've read and obtained , I have come to the conclusion that the owners and drivers make an enormous amount of money for the work performed.
If you think about it , they just drive , stop and go , make turns
the biggest responsiblity is to lookout for the safety of children.
Needless to say that all the safety lights are mostly automatic.
My relative drove a school bus for children 40 years , had a 3rd grade education.
With the annual cost of millions maybe the county should not contract this but buy their own buses and pay a weekly salary.
Just a thought.

And a very good thought at that.

The county needs to stop screwing around with all of these foolish contractors and contract with a real school bus contractor such as Laidlaw of First Student. Companies like these can do a much better job of bussing students and save the county a bundle.

be assured that if the drivers do not get it together, there is a plan that will leave them all out in the cold......
