Delaware State Police have learned that on August 2, 2010 there was a physical altercation between the 16 year old defendant and the above listed 17 year old victim over an unidentified male. On Sunday August 8, 2010, prior to the shooting the 17 year old victim and her friends engaged in a series of text messages and phone conversations with the defendant desiring another confrontation. Prior to arriving to the defendant’s residence on Country Living road the 17 year old victim received a picture message from the defendant of a gun believed to be in the defendant’s hand.

As the victims drove by the defendant’s residence they were confronted by the defendant’s mother who is alleged to have been holding a sledge hammer. A verbal altercation between the defendant’s mother and occupants of victim’s car ensued.

Moments later gunfire erupted which resulted in the victim’s car being struck twice, once in the right corner and the second in the bottom right corner of the front door. One of the bullets pierced the door where the victim was seated and struck the 17 year old victim in the right ankle and lodging in the lower right leg.

The victims fled the scene and transported the victim who was shot to Nanticoke Hospital. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to her ankle. The victim was treated and released.

Sounds to me like they were on their own property defending themselves from a group of people coming to their home to cause them harm. A gun was probably needed to defend against 5 attackers.
