15 Year-Old Charged With Murder In The Wake Of An August 9th Shooting

Woodside – Delaware State Police have formally charged a 15 year-old Dover teen with murder.

Today Harris was brought from a juvenile detention center to Troop 3 near Woodside where he was formally charged with Murder 1st resulting from a shooting at the Lucky Seven Convenience Store located at 3150 N. Du Pont Hwy. The shooting left a 26 year-old male dead.

Harris was arraigned via video at Kent County Family Court where he was held without bail and returned to the juvenile detention center.

Resume:
Delaware State Police have arrested a second teenager involved in a shooting within the last three days. The first 16 year old teenager was arrested Sunday August 8, 2010 after firing two rounds into a car striking a teenage girl in the ankle after a previous altercation between the two. State Police in an unrelated shooting incident have arrested a 15 year old male Dover juvenile in a shooting which occurred Monday August 9, 2010 around 5:45 p.m.

State Police Detectives responded to 3150 N. DuPont HWY, the Lucky Seven Convenience store after receiving a call about a subject who had been shot. When Troopers arrived they obtained video footage of the events which assisted in piecing together the events.

The 26 year old victim arrived at the convenience store and parked to go inside. Detectives then learned that the 15-year old male suspect pulled into the same convenience store parking lot and parked in the area of the gas pumps. The suspect appears to have walked toward the entrance of the Lucky Seven however returned to his car for an unknown reason. As the victim walked out of the convenience store the suspect returns and appears to get into a verbal discussion with the victim. Moments later shots rang out as the suspect shot the victim approximately 4 times in the upper torso (chest) area. After the shooting the victim fled toward the Lucky Seven and collapsed just inside the store entrance. A convenience store representative then calls 911.

State Police were able to obtain a description of the suspect’s vehicle from the video as being as a black Acura passenger car. State Police through their investigation were able to ascertain a person of interest who has recently been seen in a black Acura and who has recently been involved in disputes with the victim.

Delaware State Police after obtaining additional registration details about the vehicle located it on the 1000 block of White Oak Road city limits of Dover however the 15 year old suspect was not around. The suspect early this morning turned himself into Dover Police Department at which time State Police took custody of the suspect.

The 15 year old male suspect was arrested for Attempted Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. The suspect was later remanded to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $35,000 cash bail.

The victim was transported from the scene to Kent General Hospital for life threatening wounds and is listed in critical condition.

Probably third or fourth generation welfare case. This is just another predictable result of liberalism. It will cost the taxpayers another million or two to prosecute, defend, feed, clothe, house and provide health, dental, and mental care for this burden on society.
