Four Years Ago Today
The images above are from a raccoon that was killing off more than a dozen animals at the Salisbury Zoo. We approached Ron Alessi, (President of the Zoo Commission) about these animals being killed and he had no idea this was going on. Jim Rapp was the Director of the Zoo at the time and he simply did not tell Mr. Alessi what was going on.
Fortunately, a trap was set and the raccoon was caught the very day it was put out. Unfortunately for all those other animals that had been killed and trapped in exhibits, it made it easy picking for the raccoon. This was one of many reasons why I could not stand Jim Rapp. Even though he was well aware of what was going on, even though he knew I was coming down there day after day snapping off pictures of one dead animal after the other, he did nothing.
Today we're enjoying an entirely new attitude at the Salisbury Zoo with new employees, including a new Director.

we recently visited the zoo. about 2 months ago. it was the biggest mess we'd seen it ever being in.
it's worse, not better.
Wouldnt you at least put gloves on first, yuck.
the zoo has been around so the website says over 50 years . why has it not grown any in that time ? atleast no growth that i know of . i know a childerns playground was added just next to it but doesnt that keep it from haveing any chance of growing ? dont get me wrong the playground has been a great added space for kids to play but could it not have been placed on the other side of the parkinglot ? its just a shame we have such a small space for a zoo and no room for growth. who realy wants to see a big cat live in a space smaller then most of our bedrooms ?
