Joe,
Quick update. I have been informed that the meeting to close the Easton Mail Hub has been changed to 6:00 p.m. on June 15th, not 7:00 p.m. We need to go and support the fact that we do not want this mail hub to be closed. Our geographical location is indeed unique. It is in no way effective to have to mail a letter to Salisbury from Ocean City and have it go to Baltimore to be post marked instead of in Easton. Think of the delays that this will create. The increase in tolls, traffic, snow in the winter, Bay Bridge closing for various reasons and the loss of jobs this will create is not justified. I really hope that people will plan on attending. I don't know if any our Representatives will be attending or not; however, we can't afford to lose more jobs on the Lower Shore. I do not work for the Post Office, but I feel very strongly that this is a huge mistake.

There are great points made by the poster. Also consider Baltimore does not need more strain on it's already high processing rates. The shore should have it's own processing plant and Baltimore shouldn't undergo more than it already has.
It takes a letter 3 days from my home on the shore to a location in Severn. It takes 1 day to get from Severn to my home. If the two plants are merged into one it will be more like 4-5 days either way the letter is sent.
I believe the Chamber should get involved in this as business's will also be impacted. It will take longer for our invoices to reach our customers and longer for their checks to get back to us. And, this helps small businesses????
