A high school teacher in Howard County, Md., has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a student at school, and now police want to know if there are more victims.
Charles Ray Moore works as an JROTC instructor at Atholton High School in Columbia, Md. A 17-year-old student told her mother that twice this month she stayed late at school and engaged in sex acts with the 51-year-old teacher in a classroom, detectives said.
Moore was arrested Monday night, and has been charged with sexual child abuse and sexual abuse of a minor by a person in a position of authority.

sometimes, i think these girls are willing participants. doesn't excuse the lapse or reason from the adults, but this sounds like she was a willing participant.
What the hell is wrong with these people? We send our children off to school thinking they are in a protected place only to learn the very people in charge of their well being take advantage of them. Make a real example out of these P.O.S. people and lets put an end to this stuff!
What a difference a year makes. If she was 18 I dont think it would have been illegal?? I know 16 is the age of consent as long as the other person is not above 29? Im not sure on those numbers.
8:07 The age of consent in Maryland is 16. It doesn't matter what the age of the other person is. The reason this person got in trouble is because if the "victim" is 16 or 17 and the adult has care and/or custody of that 16 or 17 year old person, then by Maryland statute it's illegal. It's illegal for the reasons someone else stated. Parents don't expect to send their 16-17 year old kids to school and have their adult teachers, coaches etc. preying on them sexually. This goes beyond the classroom. Care and custody means any position of authority, ie coach, scout leader, counselor etc. no matter how long that custodial person has care and custody over the 16 or 17 year old. Other than that, it's not illegal for a 45 year old person to have sexual contact with a 16-17year old in Maryland, again, as long as the adult isn't in a position of authority over the individual.
Twice!! So both are concenting and BOTH should be in trouble. There needs to be a law against these kids too. Both are in the wrong so both needs to be delt with.
10:33... the kid in this situation is wrong, but its expected for a child to make bad decisions and to make a mistake such as this... its not exceptable for grown man to make this mistake. They should have better judgement.
This is like the 3rd JROTC instructor nearby who has had some inappropriate relations with a student. This is supposed to be a leadership program.. what is wrong with these people?
although the age is legal (albeit still a bit gross), you can't be in a position of teacher/mentor and have sexual contact with students.
While its true that some of the teenagers involved in these clandestine trysts are willing,it does not negate the fact that the adult should know better,especially one in a position of trust like a teacher or instructor at school.
Bad Judgement....yes, Predator No...and referring to a previous commentor on here, he is not a "POS"; SFC Moore was a Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and an Infantryman for this country for 20years. SFC Moore's guidance stuck with me during my two Combat Tours as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Company Commander. I wish he had made a better personal decision
Some parents dress their high school young ladies in sexy clothes which is an enticement for a normal male.Errors are made on both sides. Some of these young ladies don't look 16 either- maybe 22. School uniforms is the answer.
