Yes! I wasn't much of a seat belt wearer. Thank God I was wearing one the day I was in an accident. my car was totaled, my air bags deployed and I walked away completely uninjured. I had a friend when I was young die in a car accident because he was thrown from the car. If he had been wearing a seat belt he would have been uninjured. It may be incovinent until the day your numbers up and you find yourself grateful for the security!
Yes, but I still hate the whole "click it or ticket" sham. Just another revenue source for the town. If dummies don't want to buckle up, well hell, I consider that natural selection.
9:46 why do you ask? You just blindly assume I'm going to die in a car crash. I've been in 2 serious car crashes(neither my fault) w/o a belt and walked away both times.
I think it gives people a false sense of security and the act of wearing one does absolutely nothing to prevent an accident. So go ahead and talk on your phone while reading your GPS and I'll continue to drive safely w/o my belt.
Joe, I never understand the smugness of people like you that insist on everyone wearing belts. If you don't you must be stupid or on a death wish. Its like smoking or wearing a helmet on a bike, I guess people still feel the need to put down others to feel better about themselves.
anonymous 10:42, the auto industry and federal government have gone through great lengths and expense to have vehicles designed to "Save Lives." Ask any Dealer and they'll explain how a car is now designed to crush around you. They are also designed for seat belt safety. An air bag is not going to save your life, unless you are wearing a seat belt, which holds you in place for the air bag to actually work. Yeah, there are some Eastern Shore hard heads who think drinking a few beers and driving around without a seat belt makes you a man. However, they are fools and not very caring for their own family.
12:33 Your absolutely right both of them would be alive today if they had seat belts on. All Princess Dianna's injuries were from hitting the front seat.
YES! In 1961 I fell out of a car when I was 3 while it was moving. Again on my way to school in 1967. (Although I wouldn't have put it passed my brother to have pushed me.) My younger cousin went through the windshield when she was standing between the bucket seats and it was parked. I miss her.
Joe your 10:48 comment brings up a point that, well, ruffles my feathers. Why is it so many people, mostly men, feel it is perfectly fine to get in a car or truck and drive around the back roads drinking? I have heard that soo many times and each time it makes my blood pressure rise. I've heard everything from "Well it's just a few beers" to "My wife doesn't want me drinking around my kids so I just drive on the back roads while I have a few so the kids don't see me". What the heck is that? It isn't ok for his kids to see him drinking but it is ok to put every single other person on the road at risk of death because these people are idiots?
I lost a brother to a drunks stupid decision, I know the pain it causes. I just can't grasp why people think it is ok to do!
10:42 fails to realize that people who smoke heavily...people who are in accidents without seatbelts or helmets...people who are in accidents because they have been drinking...etc...exact a heavy cost on society. It's not just about your personal freedoms.
Well, Joe this is 10:27. I am a medically retired officer due to MS. I never liked the seat belt thing and I never wrote anyone a ticket for it. It is just my position.
40 years ago, when I was a kid, I rolled a VW. There were four of us inside and none had seat belts. We were very fortunate, no one was seriously hurt. I learned my lesson and have always worn them since, and I won't drive until everyone in the car is buckled up.

Yes, always.
Yes, Yes, Yes. The car does not go anywhere unless everyone has a seatbelt.
Yes it is such a habit ingrained in me by my father that I feel naked in the car without it.
always! with out one is like riding a roller coaster with out the harness snapped!
Always!
Always. Without fail.
Yes, always without fail.
yes...I would feel naked without it.
depends on the vehicle I am driving... comfortable in the car but the truck? it's like I am being strangled
Yes, unless I'm just going around the corner.

I never wear one, never had. Been driving for 24 years and it started as a comfort thing and became more of a protest over another nanny law.
YUP!
always, even in a taxi
9:33 organ donor?
yup
yes, i put it on before i start the vehicle.
Yes except as passenger in the back of a car.
yes always
No. It should not be a law and should be drivers or passengers choice. A side note, I'm a retired police officer.
anonymous 10:27, you're not a former Cop because no Cop is that stupid.
Then again, maybe that's why you're no longer a Cop.
9:33 Idiot! Always. Lost a brother & nephew in separate accidents that if had seatbelts on would have lived.
Just do what you're told and shut up. No wonder Obama is getting his way and we are turning into a country we know longer recognize.

Yes. I have family members that have died from being thrown out of the vehicle from NOT having seatbelts on.
YES

Yes, they said if I wasn't wearing one when I was 6 I would have went through the windshield and land who knows where on who knows what
I always wear a seat belt as a driver or passenger in any vehicle. It saved my life when I was 20 years old as a passenger.
seat belts are always a good idea, but I shouldn't have the police breathing down my neck over the issue.
