Incurable Gonorrhea May Be Next Superbug

Some strains of STD showing signs of becoming resistant to all treatments

An alarming new superbug may be on its way — an incurable form of gonorrhea. The disease, once easily killed with a shot of penicillin, is increasingly becoming drug-resistant. Soon, the world may face a version that can’t be killed by any known antibiotic, warned Catherine Ison, the director of the sexually transmitted bacteria reference library with the United Kingdom’s Health Protection Agency.

In recent years, as the disease has evolved, medications once proven to kill the bacteria have become less effective except one, a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins. Now some strains of gonorrhea are showing signs of being resistant to even that, Ison told those at a scientific meeting last week in Edinburgh, Scotland.

"If this problem isn't addressed, there's a very real possibility that gonorrhea will become a very difficult infection to treat," she said.

The effort continues to find the deadly disease that is effective in destroying populations that the Government can't afford. Swine Flu did not progress as expected.

All viruses and diseases are becoming incurable every day becasue of the products we use and inject into others and animals... There are pig farms/farmers who give their pigs penicillin shots to help combat infections and such and in doing so, someone got bit by one of them pigs and they needed a shot becasue they got a staff infection or something of that nature... "NO can do" the doctor said basically... the strain of bacteria had mutated from the known today one and is basically immune to any medicine we have to fight it... so basically the person had to wait for his own body to kill it or simply wait to die if it got bad enough...

Yeah, my (ex)wife had a "staff" infection once; one of her male coworkers got her pregnant.

hmmm... a non-curable disease that only affects those who sleep around, don't properly protect themselves, and/or cheat on their committed partners. renders them sterile, therefore removing this bad behavior from the gene pool. I'm thinking this is a win/win!
