Dear Diane - I want to apply for the recently vacated job of town manager. I will do as the council wishes and rubber stamp everything you bring forward as motions. I am easy to get along with and will work cheap. I probably could get by with a salary of $35,000. You don't need to know my qualifications because, after all, its your council that really runs things in Fruitland, right?

Do I have any experience with Fruitland you ask? Why I go past Gary Pusey's everyday. His cars are "better than your money", remember? I go past WalMart everyday whose shoplifters help bring in money for the criminal justice system. I go past a bunch of other run-down businesses each day so I figure since things have never changed in Fruitland, I really don't have to have any prior experience. when can i start?

It will be interesting to see if anybody but the city attorney has anything to say tonight.
He's been running the city for years, now.
The council doesn't do anything without his say-so.
And everybody thought it was the city manager.
He didn't do squat. That's why he was graciously given the opportunity to resign instead of being fired.
If you look through the minutes of the council meetings on the website, you will find it very entertaining. One meeting a few months ago ground to a complete halt because the city attorney wasn't there.
They couldn't do anything without him. Everything was tabled.
Your tax dollars at work (six figures!)
The election is coming up in October.
Candidates need to get to work-- this election will decide the fate of the city.
It's in a graveyard tailspin.
The meeting starts at 7 in the back room, then they'll come out front at 7:30 and go through the motions.
Be there.

Amen! Amen! Amen! This is possibly the most useless, clueless municipal body on the Eastern Shore (sorry, Salisbury CC, we do think that they have you beat). Notice how stormwater regulations are always on the agenda. Joe, you oughta look at that smoking gun.
