PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY TO PUSH IN FINAL HOURS FOR TOUGH LEGISLATION AGAINST CHILD RAPISTS

Annapolis, Maryland April 12, 2010 Citizens for Jessica’s Law will hold a brief press conference today at 9:30 a.m. in front of the steps of the State House to push for the passage of Senate Bill 622(House Bill 254) putting child rapists behind bars for 15 years to life. Annapolis continues to play their games to avoid protecting our children. We will be joined by relatives of Sarah Foxwell who allegedly died at the hands of a convicted sex offender, Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis and a Wicomico County States Attorney We are sick and tired of the nonsense in Annapolis. It seems they are more interested in passing cell phone legislation than passing a bill (Senate Bill 622/House Bill 254) to keep child rapists behind bars for 15 years to life without parole.

Join us today at 9:30 a.m. on the steps of the State House as we make the final push in the last hours of the 2010 session of the Maryland General Assembly. It should not take 90 days in session to get this done. Child rape is a horrendous crime against our children and the emotional and physical scars last a lifetime. Child rapists belong in prison for at least 15 years to life.

Protect Maryland’s children now!

Thank you, Ms. Harris, for your tireless work. Also to Sheriff Lewis. And you, too, Joe.
