The efforts and intent are exception because they are taking a stand to protect the members. However, there will be some low life scumbag predator that will enlist a low life scum bag attorney or two to represent him/her for discrimination. It will some how turn into a way to drain the YMCA until they have no choice but to recant the decision.
I was in the YMCA last Saturday for my childs soccer game. We were sitting right up by the glass, when I turned to look at the man who was standing up from his seat. I noticed a pistol under his shirt pointing right at me and my other child. No he did not have his hand on the gun and it was in a holster, but pointing directly at us nonetheless. I quickly got up and told my wife who in turn asked him why he had a gun. His response was "I take it everywhere I go" she asked if he was a police officer. His reply was a simple yes. After more questions regarding his LEO status he informed us that he was a SGT. in the Delmar Police Department. I asked if he felt like he "needed" this gun in the YMCA where hundreds of children are playing at any given time....he said yes. He was wearing nothing to identify him as a police officer and was very rude when questioned about having a gun in a place like this. If he is a cop he should be wearing something to identify himself if his gun will be visible to everyone...am I wrong? I'd like to know how others feel about this. Roger C.
10:29 First, he should have provided you his ID/badge if you had any concerns. It is my understanding that all officers carry their service weapon at all times...on duty and off duty. But it sounds like he was wearing it impropperly if it was pointing at you, and not at the ground.

He was bending over actually. I can agree with them carrying but if they do their ID should be visible at all times.
