On March 22, 2010, the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center will be closed for an inspection of its electrical system and for any maintenance work required as a result of that inspection. Part of the procedure involves a complete shutdown of the building’s electric power. The State of Maryland requires this inspection prior to the Civic Center’s use of a new emergency generator. The generator is designed to produce sufficient electric power at the WY&CC during emergencies.
The WY&CC offices and box office will be closed on March 22nd. Tickets for commercial events will still be available on-line at www.wicomicociviccenter.org.

Does this mean everyone that works in that building gets a free day off with pay?
lets remember everyone, all county employees are forced to take furlogh days before the end of the fiscal year, i'm sure Mr Mackes is urging his staff to use them. lets also have in mind folks i attended the gaither homecomming concert this past saturday and the civic center staff was present, it was very easy to see that the civic center is not a monday through friday workplace, I am sure there is plenty of weeks the staff pulls more then a 40 hour week so what is it our concern if they are being awarded one paid day off for testing of a system that could be use to all of us in our county if ever need be. also after reviewing the upcoming events i see the circus is in town over the easter holiday thay have shows good friday and easter sunday are you willing to give your holiday with your family up to serve the people of our county and fill their enterainment needs??
