Christina (Tina) Perotta
Ann WisemanChristina (Tina) Perotta and Ann Wiseman, both of Salisbury, are among the Top 100 Women in Maryland for 2010, according to the annual list compiled by The Maryland Daily Record, a business-oriented newspaper from Baltimore. The entire 100 top women will be honored on May 3 at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. This is the 15th year of the award which has recognized outstanding achievements of professional women.
Ann Wiseman is the director of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions in which she teaches respect, etiquette and ballroom dance to middle-schoolers and serves as the Eastern Shore director for Business Networking International (BNI) of Maryland where she is responsible for seven chapters of small business people.
Previously, she was a national-award-winning certified legal nurse consultant who headed up B. Ann Wiseman and Associates after working as an operating room nurse at PRMC and the Delmarva Surgery Center. As a legal nurse consultant working with attorneys on medical issues, she received one of four national awards from the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants at their 2005 New Orleans conference. She also taught college seminars in that field for continuing education for nurses.
As a volunteer in the community, Mrs. Wiseman serves as vice chair of the board and chair of the development committee for Women Supporting Women, a local breast cancer support and education group, and is a member of the board of Lower Shore Enterprises. In 2005, she was appointed to the Maryland State Leadership Team for the Lumina Foundation’s Study on Retention of Low Income Adult Students by Dr. Thelma Thompson, president of UMES. She is also a 2009 graduate of Shore Leadership.
Mrs. Wiseman is currently a member of the Community Players of Salisbury and appeared last fall in the production of “All Shook Up.”
Tina Perotta recently was honorary co-chair of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Spring Gala which is a major yearly scholarship fund-raising event for the university. She is also co-founder and administrator of La Merced Medical Mission and Community Outreach to Nicaragua.
Currently, she is working on LaMerced’s third mission trip this June. Last year, 12 team members from Salisbury traveled to Managua, serving 88 patients in that week which included 15 major pediatric plastic surgeries. They established a small procedure room at the Roberto Clemente Clinic for Women and Children in the capital city of the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. More than $25,000 worth of medical supplies and equipment were donated by physicians and hospitals on Delmarva.
In the community, Mrs. Perotta is a board member of Lower Shore Enterprises, secretary and board member of the West Nithsdale Homeowners Association and an advisory board member of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions.
Presently, she is working on a dual master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and an MBA at the University of Maryland’s, University College.
Two other Top 100 Women from the Eastern Shore announced in the press earlier were Dr. Janet Dudley-Eshbach, president of Salisbury University, and Dr. Ellen Neufeldt, vice president of student affairs, also at Salisbury University.
