NYT Execs Get Bonuses To Hire People Besides White Guys

Another fun fact from the New York Times's proxy: Senior executives can get an extra bonus for hiring minorities and women instead of white guys.

The [Compensation] Committee also retained the discretion to increase or decrease the individual component of the total bonus paid to each executive by up to 10% based on the continuing development of a diverse work force, including the inclusion of diverse candidates in hiring processes and the demonstration of personal commitment to diversity through participation in diversity-related activities, such as mentoring and sponsorship of affinity groups.

The state of MD gives tax incentives to any business that hires foreign nationals rather than Americans.

They just raised the unemployment tax by 33% in January, and since foreign nationals can't claim unemployment, businesses don't have to pay unemployment tax on them like they do for American workers.
An American hired at the same wage that a foreign national is hired at, is actually costing the employer about a dollar more an hour through unemployment tax.

With flawed laws like this, the MD legislature is adding to the 7% MD unemployment problem. It's this kind of stupidity that encourages Ocean City area businesses to keep hiring foreign nationals.

yeah then you wonder why the NYT's is always having writers making up bogus stories! hahahaha, same thing happened when the ny police department lowered their standards, ended up with the bottom of the barrel! Who in their right mind would pay for a rag like the NYT, almost as newsworthy and trustful as the Daily disappointment! lmao!

Wait a minute. Why do you bring up racism? Are people being laid off based upon race? No. Are people being hired at the NYT because of race? That is racism and that's what this article is about. Don't you agree that people should be hired based upon their ability to do the job. Some are able to do better than others and that should be a hiring criteria available to businesses.

8:39 I was referring to how some think reverse discrimination is OK . And my point is if racism is wrong then it should be wrong for all and the people who have suffered the most should be leading the cause instead of reaping the benefits when circumstances have changed because they could always change back !

We have been taught that diversity is a strength but every great nation as soon as it diversified failed and now America seems to be following the pattern !

Diversity programs where put into place because former racist recruitment practices entrenched themselves across the board in many industries. The difference is that today it's not so much that people discriminate against skin color; the habit of drawing from the well of searching primarily white males pigeonholed many companies into missing out on alot of talent available from other sources (women, minorities, etc.). For all of you screaming racism, it should be noted that white women have arguably received the most benefit from affirmative action/diversity initiatives. I think many of them would argue that these were a good idea.
