Help is on the way! What the heck is he going to do, put people's mind at ease that he's "on the case!"

Jim, I dare you to leave your City Officers behind and fly solo on this one!

Like the Sopranos them song says, I hope "you woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun"

He did go around the Church Street area alone and knock on doors after the murder on Hammond Street

This city went from one extreme to the other extreme - We're doomed!!!

Maybe the closing of the police sub station a half block away was not the best of ideas. It would seem that the crime rate in the area has increased since it has closed. Keep in mind that without the money saved by closing the police substations the city would never be able to afford to operate the new fire boat if and when they get it.

I love the statement that he's open to change in the area... here's a change: have the POLICE focus less on denial and more on real crime!!!

I heard he has a personal protection fron a detective at the county. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks to the mayor for getting involved. Smith Street is out of control. I feel bad for the decent people and college kids who live around this area. Nothing but crime, drugs, prostitution, shootings, etc. And to think their biggest concern years ago was college kids pissing in their yards! I'll bet they wish they could have those days back!

Why tour it at 2pm? How about 10pm to about 3am when the real issues happen.

I think our mayor is doing a outstanding job! He truly cares about the community and thats more than can be said about the negative commenters here. Instead of complaining, why don't you take to the streets and do something about it?

Smith and Maryland should be closed down, the rentals there are worn out and trashed, no wonder the tenants! It's time for residents to go after the City on rentals and the condition of rentals. Oh, I know, the City is owned and run by a few slumlords!

Mayor James Ireton, Jr. will travel to the bathroom today where he will relieve himself. Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah.

Give me a freaking break. Do you your job Ireton. You're the biggest running joke of a Mayor ever. Somehow, you've managed to trump the second biggest running joke, Barrie Tilghman. How about doing something for a change instead of mugging for the camera?

We need to have a police force of 120 not 92. It's only 8 more than it was 25 years ago. More officers, more pay, better equipment or expect the crime to continue. Applications are in the government building folks
