Where I live there isn't any delivery. We are 22 miles outside of Salisbury and down on the water. When i did live in town, it depended on how far they had to come for the delivery. Uusally any where from $5-10.

come on. at least %20 if they do the job well (on time, etc.). I am pretty sure tips make up the bulk of their pay. i also know that they get robbed quite often. I know of an incident where domino's tried to make an employee pay back the money that was robbed.

Well I only tip maybe 1 or 2 bucks depends on how fast they got there but the place I order from already adds a $2 delivery charge in! Which I do not agree with, I wonder who really gets this delivery charge money!

My favorite pizza place does not deliver. But when I was younger and we ordered out I always tipped very generously.

Yes, I do. I tip all my delivery people. Usually it's $5.00. If I didn't have something prepared already for tonight I'd order pizza. Due to the road conditions the tip would be $10.00!

This is the story I got from a friend who delivered; originally the delivery fee was to go to the driver, but now in most cases they are lucky to get half and the business keeps half. The way I look at it they are getting double tipped. Most drivers complain because alot of people tip less since they have imposed the delivery fee.

Just remember, delivery charges help cover the cost of delivery service. Why shouldn't a store add something to help with the cost of drivers, insurance, etc. when they charge the same amount for food to someone who walks in and doesn't need all the extra expenses.
And if the driver gets the delivery charge, remember, you tip waitstaff up to 20% and they aren't abusing their vehicles, paying for gas, oil and parts that wear out much sooner, and they aren't putting their vehicles (and themselves) at risk to serve you your food.
As someone who delivers food, I can tell you more people are not tipping or are just offering the coin change, than are tipping.
And if you order in the snow, for crying out loud, shovel a path to your door.
For the few places that deliver to our neighborhood, at least 20%. Wish more would deliver to us!

I knew I had to move when I called Dominos, and they told me they didn't deliver to my street after dark.
I'd give $2 for anything up to 20, $3 for up to 25, $4 til about 35. I automatically give $10 in inclement weather as it is today no matter how large the order. But it also depends on the company's delivery charge and i will subtract that amount from the tip cause that charge goes to the driver anyways. I know i was a driver for 8 years

Delivery pizza sucks.
Make your own start with the dough. Put pizza sauce on, chopped onions browned italian sausage, pepperoni, black olives, choppen red and green bell pepper, and lots of mozzerela. bake in the oven.
Should be 3/4" on top of the crust!
I always tip them at least a 5. They earn everything they make! Especially when they deliver in high crime neighborhoods. They always talk about the dangerous jobs that law enforcement handle, but I think it is just as dangerous to be a delivery driver of a convenience store clerk! Who really looks out for them?
What a bunch of cheapskates on this blog! I can't believe anyone would only tip $ 1.00 to 42.00 for a pizza. I am a woman and yes I work hard for my money in an office, but to me it would be worth $5.00 not to have to go out of the house to get it.
All of you people are ridiculous. $1 or $2??? These people are risking their lives every day, snow or not. I am not a delivery driver, nor would I want to be, because of ignorant people like you. My wife is a server at a popular restaurant in town, and I get to hear all the horror stories of how people have no idea how to tip. Example - $2 on $65, $3 on $50...and so on. She happens to be an excellent server and is as nice as she can be. Get real, people. If you're not going to tip well, don't go out at all.

honestly the restaurants shouldn't depend on patrons to pay their employees pay checks, that is a disgrace first of all... I certainly tip 20% or more but overall they should atleast get minimum wage not $2.50 an hr or less
Anonymous or not I would never admit to tipping $1-$2 that is ridiculous.. And if you don't live that far then drive your lazy butt to the restaurant and pick it up yourselves.. I can't believe I've worked in the service industry for this long with the cheap people that live on the Eastern Shore.
