Maryland Assault Weapons Ban of 2010 is DEAD!

The rediculous anti gun ban bill proposed by Sen. Mike Lennett(D) has died in committee. A bill may be on the way to allow concealed carry in Maryland. Another proposed bill will restrict gun rights of an individual who has had two DUI convictions within five years. Read all the details in this article.

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to limit the DRINKING and DRIVING rights of someone with 2 DUIs in 5 years?

Is there any chance at all of getting the right to carry? With all the democrats in office I can't believe they would even consider it.

We really do need to allow concealed carry in MD. A weapon, like any tool, only works if you have it.

Worcester County State’s Attorney Joel Todd said “it would be inappropriate to comment” on whether the body was that of missing woman Christine Sheddy. Sheddy disappeared from a Pocomoke-area farm house in November 2007.
Officials from the Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Worcester County Bureau of investigation and Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office were led to the site as part of a larger investigation, Todd said.
The remains, which were found with a pair of shoes and some jeans, will be sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore.

Todd said he did not know how long the body had been there, and declined to comment any further for the sake of the investigation.

How about denying a 2 time DUI person the right to own a CAR OR TRUCK? Leave guns out of that one! Now, 2 drunken shooting rampages in 5 years... well, then one may have a point!
Everyone needs the right to carry for protection until they are convicted of violent crimes.

Man, I would love to have a ccw law. I ride a motorcycle and would love to pack a little buddy w/ me on rides. Will feel a little safer when a caged starts messing w/ us. Right now the only option I have is to twist the throttle and get out of there. Not like I would ever think about using a gun, but I know the option is there if I HAD to. Know plenty of guys whoa pack now while riding - and no, I am not in any gangs or clubs.

Protect Yourself, don't be a victim, worry about the liberal[laws] later. A dead man never goes to court.

Concealed carry permits are a bad idea. Unlike some of you, I don't trust the average citizen to resist using their gun in a heated verbal exchange.

There are too many wackos out there that don't have criminal records and can easily get a gun.

I don't mind if they keep it at home. No one should be challenging anyone else at their home, but if I run into a jerk in public, I am entitled to give them a piece of my mind without fear of them pulling a gun or needing to carry one myself.

The Wild West has nostalgic romanticism but the real thing is not pretty.

to 3:25 Hypothetical Situation
You turn into your driveway after a long day at work, there is a pick-up at your front door and some guys are loading your belongings. The gun you have safe at home is used against you at that point. Would you not like to have a carry permit and be able to legally hold them at gun point until the Sheriff comes?
Just a thought!!!!!!!!!

Free men don't ask permission to own a gun!

There are concealed carry laws on the books however they are very restrictive and there is no reciprocity. These laws need to be changed to allow other states CCW permits to be honored here and vice-versa. We are the only state in this area that is so restrictive. With all the hoops you have to jump through just to purchase a weapon in MD a CCW permit should just be another fee and out the door.

In Delaware everyone is requird to take a safety class before applying for a carry concealed permit, just like a hunter safety class before you get a hunting license. I will take the class in Maryland, so I am legal to carry if I so choose.
