Consumer prices including food and energy rise less than expected too
WASHINGTON - Consumer prices rose less than expected in January while prices excluding food and energy actually fell, something that hasn't happened in more than a quarter-century.
The Labor Department said Friday that consumer prices edged up 0.2 percent in January while prices excluding food and energy slipped 0.1 percent. That was the first monthly decline since December 1982.
The benign inflation news gives the Federal Reserve more time to keep interest rates at record-low levels to shore up the economy and should ease worries in financial markets that a Fed rate hike is more imminent.

10:24, those who objectively use these numbers to measure economic status. It seems these key measurements have usually been good indicators; that was until Obama landed in office. Now I guess nothing is real to you guys.
12:00pm, go to the grocery store and buy something, prices have not dropped, most are up if not static.

There are plenty of deals to be found on a lot of items. And even when food shopping, being a savy shopper is really starting to pay off.
The major point is don't try to now argue against the metrics just because you don't like who's in control right now.
12:00 got news for ya, doesn't matter who is in office, these are all lies. at one time the government would send someone out to buy the same basket of food to gauge the prices, then instead of buyin the steak cause it was to expensive they replaced it with hamburger, and said the prices remained low. the kept this up until they finally removed food and evergy from the index. try living without food and energy! just another way our government lies to us on a daily basis! wise up fool!
