White House budget director blames old computers for ineffective government...
A big reason why the government is inefficient and ineffective is because Washington has outdated technology, with federal workers having better computers at home than in the office.
This startling admission came Thursday from Peter Orszag, who manages the federal bureaucracy for President Barack Obama.
The public is getting a bad return on its tax dollars because government workers are operating with outdated technologies, Orszag said in a statement that kicked off a summit between Obama and dozens of corporate CEOs.
The White House release that included Orszag’s comments said one “specific source” of ineffective and inefficient government is the huge technology gap between the public and private sectors that results in billions of dollars in waste, slow and inadequate customer service and a lack of transparency about how dollars are spent.
(And, of course, the computers are left over from the BUSH administration, so it's really his fault, no?)

government is ineffective due to slow computers but not slow people..... funniest thing i've heard in a long time.
Just like 7.5 million dollar fiasco of Delaware's Y2K conversion of a new system. After four years, it all had to be trashed and new people brought in at industry IT pay scale to finally get the proper implementation. The system is only as good as the people.

The government is slow because of who they hire. It's not the best person that gets the job because they have to fill positions with less qualified people due to Affirmative Action.
The truth behind the reason the Government is ineffective and inefficient is because it is chocked full of inefficiant and ineffective slugs that can't make it in the private sector.
Face it, this country is being fleeced by people that use the point of a gun to take away resources from those that produce them.
The real problem though, is that the Government is killing the goose that lays the golden egg in the process.
What will the Government do when all that's left will be Government workers, and welfare recipients?

Let's go back to when there were no computers, income tax, etc. and we were PROSPEROUS!
Our "public servants" need new computers. Let's just throw another five billion at the problem. That will fix it. If not-throw ANOTHER five billion at it. What's another ten billion at this point. We want nothing but the best for our officials so they can be as "efficient" as possible (what a joke). I need a new computer too, but I can't have one because I am broke (just like the government is). The difference is I have to live within my means and they can just spend our money at will.
Heres a great way to fix the government budget. Next snow day when they say all non essential employees can say home, record who stays home and keep only the rest. I bet that will shrink expenses by almost 90%.
