I am from Salisbury, MD. I have relocated to Alabama but I have family and friends in Salisbury so I am in constant contact with everyone. I was in shock when I heard of Sarah Foxwells disappearance. I prayed and called who I could to find out details. Whatever they told me was from what you posted. You do an awesome job and I just wanted to thank you.
From Alabama, we prayed for Sarah and mourned her death.

We are in Florida for the winter and we kept up to the minute with Sarah Foxwell by keeping a close check on Joe's blog.

mr. albero, i'm a sixth generation eastern shoreman and have lived in salisbury my entire life of 51 years. everyone has a right to free speech, but sometime you take it to the nth degree. although i am not friends with mr.wells i have dealt with him while doing utility work in the city of salisbury and think he is a decent human being. to insinuate he knows more about this terrible tragedy is as close to slander as a person can get. we have a lot of sayings that may not have originated on the shore, but one that comes to mind in reference to most of the things you bring up since i've known of your existence is this one. the more you stir up crap, the more it stinks. why don't you put your efforts, whether here in salisbury or down in alabama to a more positive outlook. you're great at bringing things you don't approve of to light, but rarely do you offer any solution to any of the things you so vehemently blog about. here's another saying i think should apply to your rhetoric. it used to be the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but nowadays we just change the wheel. in your case it's time to change the wheel. sincerely, dave carey anonimity sucks !
I am from Salisbury and am connected to the situation. I was out of town during Christmas and the only way I received information to see if I needed to return was from this website. No need to waste my time elsewhere searching. Many times I found myself refreshing every minute or so praying for an update. Thanks joe!

Just because I dislike the fact that the man destroyed unconditional gifts as a memorial for Sarah Foxwell, doesn't make me a bad guy. It's my opinion and you have every right to yours. I have published your comment for all to see and I certainly respect the fact that you are man enough to use your name. As anyone can tell you, I truly respect any and all that do.
That being said, just because we publish "comments" in which you or Mr. Wells doesn't like, doesn't mean they are my personal comments or belief. You, (with all due respect) need to simply stick to what I said personally.
I never stated he knows more about this tragidy. I said, how could someone who lives in the country not notice tire tracks in the snow? I went on to say there could be a hundred reasons. However, if there were tire tracks on my property and a child was missing, (I also live in the country) I would have searched it out, missing child or not.
As for solutions, Sir, I do offer many solutions. As do our readers. Joe Albero is not God Almighty. I do not ever claim to have all the answers but Salisbury News is a great place to first expose things and with any hope, together we can come up with answers and solutions. It's about all of us, not just me.
I'll close with this. I have always stated that Chief Webster isn't a bad guy, he just sucks as Chief of Police. I do not think Mr. Wells is a bad guy. I just think destroying unconditional gifts SUCKS. Again, that's just my opinion.
10:02 Well said. Some people want to read too much into what we say, rather than listening to exactly what we say. We can all understand that maybe Mr. Wells didn't want to have the memorial on his property, but the destruction of these gifts only made the wound just a little deeper for all of us.

I had several people email me commenting on the original post,thinking I sent it in. I did not, but feel compelled to reply to it nonetheless.
I also lived in Salisbury for several years and relocated to Alabama in October 2008.
I must admit that I had pretty much given up on Salisbury. I did not give up on the people of Salisbury, I gave up on the city and the way it was being run. Crime was (and still is) on the rise, the local economy has been run into the toilet, and the city services are poor at best. Since I have moved away, there have been numerous murders (some still unsolved) with Sarah Foxwell being the latest and garnering national attention. When and what will it take to stop the violence and crimes? Why are people like Thomas Legg Jr given a second chance? How do these "high risk" criminals (as documented on the Delaware sex offenders list) slip through the cracks? Hopefully the interim chief of the Salisbury PD can make some positive changes. Sheriff Mike Lewis should be commended for his work on the Sarah Foxwell case, and his tenacity (as well as everyone else involved in the investigation) on this case should be the golden standard on ALL crime investigations for both the Salisbury PD and the Sheriff's department. Sarah Foxwell broke everyone's heart, including mine, and as a result united a community that seemed like it was falling apart at the seems. God bless you Sarah Haley Foxwell.
I urge the city and county to dedicate more funding to fighting crime in the city. The economy will never improve if people are afraid to leave their homes and businesses are afraid to stay open after dark.
The city needs lots of things, a working WWTP, streets without potholes, updated sewer systems,and a government that can attract new business to town, but FIRST AND FOREMOST it needs to be SAFE.
I also applaud all of the local blogs in focusing their efforts on Sarah Foxwell instead of slinging mud at each other for once. It might be time to turn a page on that as well.

I feel as though this site brings everything to light, and the feedback from readers is of great value. I feel this site is part of the solution, not the problem. I mean, it is clear sometimes that comments are impulsively sent in, perhaps without researching first(like family connections in regard to Sarahs family)but I believe intentions are good. This tragic story that unfolded over the holiday season affected us all, and will continue to haunt us. If any good can come from it, perhaps the complacent among us will wake up. Parents, maybe before you would have allowed your child to stay the nite with Sarah, would you have checked out that living arrangement? People these days are transient, parents who aren't together are reckless with who they allow into their lives, often it isn't even mom or dad raising the child. When I was a child, we had sleepovers all the time, but it was different then. Wake up, it's not getting better, If Grandparents are raising the kids their children can't or won't raise, who's going to raise their children? the state?
That is correct, not everyone is always going to agree with everyone else's opinion, or points of view. Joe, you and Mr. Carey both have good points to vocalize, however - while not trying to do anything but let the proper authorities do their work on this, I do not understand the destroying of the gifts left in Sarah's memory. And as was stated, it makes the wounds somewhat deeper. Removing them, maybe calling someone, Sheriff Lewis - whoever - just to find where they could be left, would have been more thoughtful. As for the person under investigation for this - I think all of the residents feel about the same. Destroy him. Period. Wipe the earth clean of him.
