Got these photos today while sitting at the courthouse. The fire vehicle was running and two people were inside with the headlights on.
The vehicle was parked in a no parking, loading only zone, which is the sign right beside the car. Also, the curb is painted yellow. The tag on the vehicle was LG85125. There was a gentleman in a white shirt with gold badge driving, talking to a gentleman in a blue suit (seen exiting in one photo). Now, the interesting thing about this is that during the time they were sitting there, a Staples truck arrived,
and the fire vehicle refused to move, causing the Staples truck to park in the handicapped parking spot (as seen in the photo) to unload it's packages for delivery. Also, several citizens walked by and the look of disgust was clearly on their face.
Don't miss the special meeting tonight at 6:00 PM to meet the applicants for the new Fire Chief position in the Flanders Room at the Civic Center at 6:00 PM. Some Firefighters are claiming they kept the names secret this long so no one could investigate these individuals, as they have done in the past for many years. Firefighters are NOT happy.

Since when do the "employees" get to vote, or even have a say on thier boss? I know we don't have much of a Mayor/Council to appoint one, thats one thing, but it's still a bad world when the tail wags the dog like the fireman want to do.
pitiful, should have gotten a ticket just like i would have... they are no better.... not on an emergency call then follow the rules of the road.....
The Staples truck should have backed in diagonally leaving the handicapped space as open as possible. --Or boxed the car in somehow.
3:09 bull crap. These officials feel as if they are above the law and not accountable. I pay taxes and they are accountable to me as a citizen. Their actions are a direct reflection on my city. What worries me most is the disregard of how their actions may be perceived in public. With this said, what convictions do they have behind closed doors while making policy and spending my money. It stinks period.
I can get a ticket for running a red light with just a photo as proof. How do we make sure what’s good for the goose is good for the gander in this case?

This meeting is just a formality. Ireton is going to do what he wants to do. He is not concerned about the morale, or the fact that career and volunteers want change. Fresh blood is needed.
Acting Chief Richard Hoppes
No BS Degree as stated in the job requirements. Allows DC Gordy to run the department and spend every dollar in budget. Has a pirate for an Acting Deputy who walks around all day smoking cigarettes and hiding out. The Deputy provides overtime for needless PIO work to his live-in girlfriend. There is no respect left in the ranks of both career and volunteer for this group. Why bother listening to the candidates because the city already has the Chief picked.

this happens all the time. I work downtown and frequently have to enter the GOB and a lot of times, this vehicle, or one similar to it, is parked there. I guess they don't feel like parking in a marked area and walking to the door.
Emergency lanes are yellow these days.

Well now , I just thought of something that could save us millions of dollars. We don't even need a SFD. Let the surounding areas do the job with the all the fire depts. in the area we don't need a paid fire dept.They don't do anything but play pool and eat and sleep.

from New York. He has the credentials and has 20 years experience. That's why they don't want the public involved. They think his religion may cause a problem.
The person sending this must have had binoculars to see the disgust on peoples face walking by. And I would bet a dozen doughnuts the delivery truck would have parked in the handicap space even if there were no car parked there.
Maybe they were putting out a fire, give the guysa break would you.

Sounds like Hoppes or one of his cronies are running scared. Everyone knows that an overwhelming majority of the citizens and members of the Salisbury Fire Department don't want any parts of Hoppes or Gordy. Gary Comegys and Louis Smith your re-election is just around the corner. You might want to think long and hard about this one.

My guess is they were dropping off a candidate for chief. They had to get the tour and meet with the city administrator. The firefighters are making it clear that the dont want Hoppes. Theyre tired of Gordys crap and the See platform.
Who cares why someone in a Salisbury Fire dept car is parked outside the GOB. I work in the building and all kinds of people park there including SPD and county Sheriff's. The Staples truck was the one in the wrong parking in a handicap spot.
