It was dispatched as a dumpster fire and it was just that a dumpster fire. Why was that chiefs car there? Who was it in the chiefs car? What a waste of tax dollars for someone to be riding around on a Sunday morning burning precious gas.
Hey, for what it's worth, at least there's not 14 Fire Trucks there. I would rather see the Chief's vehicle there than burning all that gas with multiple Fire Trucks.
Joe's right, consider he may have just been in the area.. but I'd rather see them send a single engine and rush a 25mpg car to the scene to see what they're dealing with and then calling in extra re-inforcements if needed. Much better than sending a bunch of 4mpg $1mil fire trucks.
The chief's vehicle possibly there so that there is a command officer on scene. Or how about this one maybe the chief was in the area and stopped. Again people stop being a$$holes. I agree with Joe. This is a one engine fire not a 14 engine fire.
I love to hear from all the arm chair fire chiefs but let them do their damn job and be thankful if your house catch's on fire someone will be there to pull your sorry A$$ out !
Must have been a "slow news day" in the Bury yesterday. Not much in the Daily Times either (as usual) but normally there's a lot more, and important news, on this blog.
anonymous 7:18, sorry to disappoint you but 35 articles on a Sunday is not too shabby for a Blog. ALL of the other local Blogs provide, what, ONE article, if you're lucky.
Be sure top send me your billing address for your subscription. Go back to bed JT, you're cranky this morning.

There was a volunteer officer on board so a "command" officer wasn't needed. If that is your theory then you are saying the vollies are worthless.
Another concern is why is the chiefs car out and about on a Sunday afternoon when the Mayor and council is telling department heads to cut back on their use of departmental vehicles. Many departments have parked the city vehicles so what makes the Salisbury Fire Department the exception?
Send Joe your email and address, so he can send you a bill.
As for the chief's car at this site, I think that it is a good idea, just in case something were to happen. Also, it may ease liability on the vollies should something go wrong and the building get damaged.
What the hell do most of you know about proper fire fighting procedure or administration. Let them do the job they were hired to do. Don't like it; then vote out the people who put them in charge.
Let's see...the boss showed up for a fire. And somehow that's spells controversy to some people. Damn, get a life people! There's serious stuff you should be worried about.

Looks like the dumpster is on fire and not Auto Zone.

So is this a chiefs car or a police car?

AMEN Joe!!!!
SOMEONE MUST HAVE THROWN THEIR CRACK PIPE IN THERE
All the news that's fit to print, but not junk like this please.
Joe, I agree with you but the chiefs vehicle wasn't on the dispatch so essentially they are free lancing and wasting gas.

It's actually only 20 articles, according to your little sidebar, 4 of which are stupid e-mail forwards.
Anon 7:23 AM, who said that the person in the car was not also a volunteer?
