Residents Get Chance At Stimulus Money

Stimulus Money Available For Low-Income, Homeless Detroit Residents

DETROIT -- Detroit's homeless and low-income residents have another opportunity for a chance at millions of stimulus dollars.

The money is available to help low-income residents from becoming homeless and homeless residents to find housing.

Thousands of people lined up Tuesday.

Some people in line falsely believed they were registering for $3,000 stimulus checks from the Obama Administration.

City officials told Local 4 that Detroit was granted $15 million to help residents pay bills and their rent or find temporary housing for the homeless.

so our tax dollars get send all the way over to the outstanding city of Detroit. Like there are hundreds of people wanting to move there. How about sending stimulus funds to Snow Hill to help the downtrodden, or Berlin, or Pocomoke, or Nanticoke, or Crisfield? Mayor Dave Bing, despite the initial support of the community, is NOT going to save Detroit. Pumping stimulus money into a city where the overwhelming majority of citizens have a mind set of "getting off on the gubment" is just like dumping money into an incinerator. What a joke. What a travesty.

Well, maybe Detroit can now go back to the Halloween tradition of burning each others house down. Damn glad I live on the Eastern Shore.

This country fought a civil war to end slavery and these people just want it back in another form.
How stupid!
Anyone who votes for Dumbocrats is just plain stupid!

Stimulus money just went to build a waste water treatment plant in Berlin, it creates jobs and benefits the community. Your prayers have been answered.

Anon 12:59 Is it safe to say you did not read the announcement? Last I knew the party was Democrat, those supporting that party are known as DEMOCRATS.

Let it be known I am a member of neither national party.

Ghanima,
The descriptioon I used for that party is much more accurate!

Communities all over the country are getting these funds but I cant help but think if the people who truly need it will be reached when we have people who think they are owed something.

"To qualify, a person must have been a resident of Detroit for more than six months, must be homeless or facing eviction and must be able to maintain housing after receiving assistance."

If they were able to maintain housing why would they need the assistance. Did someone see where it said how much people were going to get? What about other people around the country will they also get something?

Listen to these two clips from Detroit . . .

This would be funny, if it wasn't so sad.

This would be sad, if it wasn't so scary as to where our country is headed.

It is amazing how closeted racist you all are. Detroit has been ravaged by unemployment and crime due to the failure of the auto industry. They have no escape from Detroit now because they have lost everything. Banks have come in and foreclosed on thousands of houses and there are no jobs to be had. All of you make me sick. Just because someone is black and finds hard times, you consider them lazy or expecting handouts. Reread your comments from my black point of view and you will see. It is not about just saving a community... it is about helping American's who can't even afford the basics -- shelter, food, clothing-- because the government has raped our country and now only 1% of Americans control 95% of al the wealth.

First of all,I resent you implying my comment is racist when its pretty generalized
Secondly, some of us are tired of seeing our tax dollars swirling down the toilet.I empathize with anyone who is homeless through no fault of their own,but there are alot of people out there,of ALL races, who think the world owes them a living.I have a family member who works in a government housing office. She counsels and assists people in danger of homelessness. She also sees alot of abuse too.Grown women with their nails and hair perfectly done but cant keep the rent paid.It goes on and on.Its not just in Detroit-most of the auto industry jobs have been gone for years. You cant blame the economy unless you want to blame our President too.People everywhere are suffering but some of us are doing more to help ourselves than others, and we are tired of bailing out everyone else just because they made poor decisions(too many kids, not enough work experience, etc)
