What’s All This Talk About Cap & Trade?

Our nation is facing a challenge right now that threatens to undermine our ability to continue to provide reasonably priced electricity.

The issue is this: The House of Representatives has passed, and the U.S. Senate now is considering climate change legislation that some experts believe could substantially increase the electric bills of all Americans, including cooperative member-consumers. This additional cost would be the result of a high-priced “cap and trade” system of carbon emissions levied against utilities. With it, Congress plans to pay for expensive new climate change programs with significant increases in your electric bill. We support reasonable efforts to keep our environment as clean as possible for present and future generations.

But we are very concerned about federal mandates that will result in digging even deeper into the pocketbooks of average Americans, causing additional major damage to our economy. We need your help in communicating concern about this legislation to Delaware’s U.S. Senators BEFORE they vote on a bill of this magnitude. Please tell them that they need to work to ensure that consumers’ electric bills are kept at affordable levels as they consider climate change legislation.

Senators Tom Carper and Ted Kaufman can be reached by phone toll-free at 1-877-40-225-2623. You can also visit http://www.findabalancedsolution.org/ for additional information. Let them know you have concerns about the Senate’s energy legislation because:

♦ The wrong choices on the climate change issue will have a devastatingeffect on our economy and our future.

♦ What we need now is assurance of a continuing supply of reliable andaffordable electricity for all consumers; and because

♦ You can’t afford a significant increase in your energy bill.
Let your voice be heard on this critical piece of legislation. Call today!

Want to stimulate the economy? Build the dag-on Nuke plants and allow everyone a certain amount of power at a fraction of what they pay now,(more power cost more) and that will free up alot of money to be spent and in itself stimulate the economy.

1. There is absolutely NO evidence that man made CO2 emissions are causing the earth to warm! (I challenge anyone out there for PROOF of man made CO2 global warming)http://www.drroyspencer.com/

2.The proposed Cap and Trade legislation will not reduce global CO2 emissions! http://junkscience.com/Greenhouse/Opposing_CCS.html

3. Cap and trade proposals WILL destroy what is left of this economy and give more control and power to Washington.

4. The earth has not warmed in over a decade, and there is a significant amount of evidence that the data of global warming has been manipulated!

If the government wants to rein in emissions from the utility company's why would they let them pass along these charges to the consumer? Sounds like the cost of doing business (overhead) to me. I just hope any new regulation of this type would not allow the utility companies to pass along the costs to consumers. I guess the cost of oversight of this kind would make the program cost prohibitive. When someone has to pay.... it's always the consumer.
