Hi Joe,

This morning my son came to see me before he headed to Georgetown to attend a member of his brotherhood's funeral. There stood this wonderful young man that god gave me the pleasure of raising and loving before me in his Dress Blues. I thought Wow how proud I am of him and the job he has chosen. Then it hit me where he was going and why. I am truly terrified for my son and for everyone else who has chosen this profession. To be a Police Officer and even a Fire Fighter you have to have it in your blood and to be your passion to even consider being one of these heroic people who lay their lives on the line to protect honor and serve the public. I highly respect you all and you are all in my prayers every day and night. Also want to include the parents who have raised these brave people and congratulate you on a job well done. We may not know each other and possibly never will but we are connected in a strong bond of supporting mentally and emotionally our children. Bless you all and please keep safe.

I worry and fear everyday for these brave men and women.
We applaud the parents that instilled American values in their family.
Thank you from all of us that you protect and keep safe everyday.

we'll never forget the military.

and the worst and most deadliest part of a police officers job is walking up to that vehicle that they just stopped for whatever reason.

The couple of times that I have been stopped for a light out or such I put both hands on the wheel.

When the officer approaches and asks for my paperwork I explain every move I'm about to make.

I've only been stopped a couple of times, but both times the officers thanked me for telling them my actions.

Dear Parent of Police Officer,

Thank you for taking the time to post your love and loyalty to your son or daughter. I just want you to know that as they go to work daily there are extended parents if you will that watch over them. As a twenty year Sergeant you have my word to God I will try to keep them safe from mental and physical harm.

In such trying times that job seems to get harder each day. The public has no idea of the stresses that take place daily. To walk up to a car in total darkness at three a.m. and not knowing what awaits you can be trying.

My Grandfather was in law enforcment for thirty years. He once said everyone of those stops takes a minute off of your life. The crazy shift work takes ten years off of your life.

The average citizen never truly knows what a police officer or fire fighter faces daily. Only what they read in the media or see on television. These brave men and women run into situations most run away from.

The stress on loved ones is known all to well. As we don body amor to go to work daily it is a constant reminder to those who love us what risk we take. I my partner and I were working surveilance on a group of crimnals. My partner stated as he dressed his young son stated " Don't get shot dad". Even for the little ones it has its toll.

The friends and family of Patrolman Chad Spicer had to live the harsh reality of the inherant risk that awaits all officers. My heart and prayers go out to them. It is a sad fact you can do everything right and still tradgey will happen.

I know in this county the people love thier law enforcement. There was a vote placed to the public three years ago that proposed the deputies of this county be granted collective bargaining with binding arbitration. The vote was overwhelming in favor of this. The County Council chose to seek legal loop holes to avoid giving deputies the benefits they so much deserve. They could have taken the high road and met in the middle, but instead chose the totally ingnore the wishes of the voting public.

In light of all facts we all know that await these men and women a group of politicians stated clearly we do not care. This blatant disregard for those that serve them left me ashamed and angry. The vote made me the proudest I have been in twenty years for the people showed they do care and support what we do.

I just hope we all remember this this when we go to the polls. Sheriff Lewis and Richard Pollitt showed total support. The council showed none.

It should be noted that three years ago we were not in the financial crisis we are today. There was no excuse for their actions at the time.

God Bless all the men and women who serve and watch over us all as we head into trying times.

I am sorry that I excluded the men & women fighting our war. They & thier families are always in our hearts & prayers. I lost two family members from the Vietnam War. One there and one who came home in body but never his spirit. Finally found peace years later when he went home to the lord.
I also would like to thank Sargent Fisher for his letter. I think one of the things that does make me feel some peace of mind is knowing the strong bond that Officers have for each other.
Thank you all and BE SAFE.
