Rep. Kratovil to Host Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Frank Kratovil will be hosting a foreclosure prevention workshop this Saturday afternoon at Maces Lane Middle School in Cambridge, MD. The workshop is open to any residents of Maryland’s First Congressional District currently facing or at risk of facing foreclosure. Counselors and representatives of major lenders will be on hand to meet with attendees individually to discuss what options are available to help homeowners stay in their home.

“People are getting hit hard by this economic crisis, and the biggest fear for many is losing their home,” said Rep. Frank Kratovil. “This workshop will help distressed homeowners learn about their options before it’s too late.”

If you would like to participate in this free and confidential workshop, more information is available on Rep. Kratovil’s website at www.house.gov/kratovil or by calling his district office at (443) 262 – 9136. Attendees will have the opportunity to sit down privately with lenders and loan counselors to discuss all available options. Anyone wishing to attend the workshop is encouraged to bring with them all relevant documents, including a hardship letter, letters of default or foreclosure, a summary of monthly expenses, two most recent pay stubs, two most recent bank statements, and 2007 and 2008 tax returns.

“All of our neighbors facing the threat of foreclosure need to know that they have options, and that there are counselors who can help them get through these tough times. I encourage anyone who finds themselves in this difficult position to stop by and take advantage the resources that the community can offer,” said Rep. Kratovil.
