There was a heat index of over 100 degrees outside, but as I read through H.R.3200 the icy chill of Big Brother swept over as I read about the "Health Choice Commissioner". This entity, to be appointed by the President, has God-like powers described in roughly the first 180 pages of H.R.3200. Even more unsettling than the multiple listed duties are the discretionary powers bestowed on this person.

p.98 lines 6,7 "...As the Health Choice Commissioner may specify"
p.115 2 "...enfotcement authority retained by the Commissioner"
p.114 22,23 "...as the Commissioner may specify"
p.134 3-9 "the Commissioner may establish..."
p.135 4,5 "as the Commissioner deems appropriate"
p.139 11-14 "the Commissioner may take such steps as may be appropriate"
p.143 1,2 "the Commissioner may impose an additional penalty"

I suggest that you read the bill.

Still not worried? Read p 58, 59 begining line 5. The benevolent Health Choice Commissioner has the right to access your financial records.
Read p 59, line 21. Government has the right to electronically transfer your funds from your bank.
Read p 167 line18-23. If you dont have coverage, Govt will tax you 2.5% each year.

At the root of this discussion is a simple fact, Conservatives have a distrust of big government and don't want THIS bill, but some do want reform, the liberal mind is ready willing and able to turn over every aspect of thier lives to big government and this bill.
Wrong again, man.
TRUTH: Page 59 continues the discussion of administrative standards, and authorizes electronic transfers of money within the government. In no way does this provision grant the government access to individual bank accounts.
TRUTH: Pages 167-173 detail what "acceptable health care" means (basically, insurance coverage) and also allow for many different kinds of exceptions to this rule.
re 11:39AM- The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Power being placed in the hands of one person with essentialy no oversight is very frightening. Anyone who has read a history book can give examples of the peril this can bring.
If you chose to abdicate your health care to someone else, go right ahead, Access to check the balance in your bank give an unscrupulous person an invitation to discover your wealth or lack of. Don't ask everyone to join you in the leap off the cliff.
