Are You Happy Now?

Last week we posted pictures of the beginning work being done with the R/R overpass on Main Street & Rt. 13 in Downtown Salisbury. This update shows the "level" black stripe dividing the two colors painted over the concrete and IMHO it looks fantastic.

They closed all west bound traffic over the weekend to complete some of the major work making this sore site now pleasing to the eye. My hat is tipped to Mayor Ireton and Code & Compliance, proving they are working to improve our Downtown. Baby steps Folks. One comment stated they'd like to see the side of the building next to the old demolished Theater painted, I agree.

My son and I were driving to the park the other day when we saw the new work that had been done with the tunnel and opposite side. We thought it look very nice. As we sat at the light I was thinking how it would be nice to fancy up the tracks with some kind of facade. It looks like they are doing something. Kudos to Salisbury for making this area easier on the eye.

Progress..........thank you Mayor Ireton.

It would be good if they could top-coat this nice paint job with something very durable that would make graffiti cleanup quick and easy.

I am happy now.

I'm not sure as to whose idea this was, or, who did it, but it looks very nice.

I will only be happy when legal Americans are doing the work and getting the paychecks.

IT's beautiful, Beautiful, as the little on a TV add says!

10:42 you know they are illegal?

There is alot of black beauty and concrete debris floating in the river who will clean that up?

Lts ask the owner of the company to prove they are legal, you will get the same lame ass excuse that they are sub-contractors and it not my responsibility.

Why don't you people just shut up on this one. I didn't see any illegals working on this project and you're making something out of nothing. Be happy the location looks as good as it does, unlike the entire City under Barrie Tilghman's leadership.

I will never shut up about this, if your right then let the owner of the company hired to do the work PROVE IT.

YOU prove that anyone there was illegal. As far as I recall they all looked American, not foreign.

You know this is going to be tagged. This is like a white canvas to a tagger. Looks good though, and hope they can maintain it.

I would be happier if you were not piling all of this national crap on top of hot topic local news and opinion.

The side of the building would be a great place to sell advertising or the city to get SU to paint another wall for them.

Joe, there are some people who just need to find something to complain about. No matter how hard people work to improve Salisbury, some will still complain.

I think it looks great. I agree about the building. Now that we can see it we can see it needs painting.

If you are refferring to the wall across the street with the different scenes on it, SU did not paint that one. The Delmarva Sign Association did that several years back. It was all volunteer work by several local sign companies and all money raised from the project was donated to the local Special Olympics. We also did one on the side of the Ice plant in Seaford. We cleared it so that graffiti would be easier to clean off & I think it has held up well over the years. And yes it was painted by all Americans.

I think it looks lovely. So glad to see things getting "beautified" in Salisbury now. Everyone I have spoken with thinks that it is wonderful. Thanks to whom ever put this in motion.

I would like to help, sign up for, or try to organize some type of care taking of the city park. The park is in sad shape with everything overgrown around the banks and all of the trees in need of trimming, etc. Anyone know if there is a Salisbury City Park clean-up club or something?

please please . the issue was making this area look better. mission accomplished. you winers need to find another issue other than illegals to knock this good work done. if you dont have anything good to say...

Not only is Joe right, 10:42, what caused your suspicion? Did they appear to be Hispanic? If so, how in the world would you get from there to illegal immigrants? Can you tell if one Hispanic man is a legal immigrant and one is illegal? Probably best you stop posting comments on blogs until you get your thinkin' straight.

It is an improvement, but does the city even own any of it? The railroad owns the bridge, but I wonder about the concrete.

What a great idea. Volunteers for the cleanup of the park. I would definitely consider helping.

I too love the new paint job on the railroad bridge. It would seem to me that if more of us took pride in our city that it would benefit everyone who lives here including new employers considering locating here.

I also remember last year there were people on the railroad slopes picking up the years of trash and debris that had accumulated there.

It was such an eyesore.

What about using prisoners to do some of this cleanup work?
