Fat Boys Seafood

Joe,

I saw a post recently about how disappointed someone was with Fat Boys Seafood. I read this with interest, as we were getting ready to purchase a bushel of crabs to celebrate our son's birthday and were trying to get the best deal. I went to several places and Fat Boys was the only place that acted like they wanted our business. Fat Boy's prices were right in line with everyone elses AND they included 2 lbs. of large shrimp free! I dealt with Jan and she could not have been nicer. When we arrived Saturday, the crabs were freshly steamed as was the shrimp and they even offered to steam our corn for us free. The crabs were nice size and meaty - we were very pleased! They were good, friendly people and we will definitely use them again!

I can't say anything bad about the place. Our crabs were great and we even got a free sample of shrimp while we waited. What salesmen lol We ended up buying 2 lbs of shrimp they were so good. Like Gail they even steamed our corn for us also. They were swamped the day we were there and each one of the employess asked me if I had been helped while I waited for my order.

Steam your own crabs, why because then you know there are no dead ones and you also make a great family fun thing out of it. Little kids are fascinated by live crabs.

I went there a picked up two pounds of steamed shrimp and some produce and it was wonderful. I love that they are open until 8:00 p.m. I can't think of any other carry out seafood place that is open that late. I also had a great experience with the employees I believe the gentlemans name I work with was Glenn and he was very helpful. I will be going back soon!

Never been there, but this excerpt looks like it was written by an employee or a pr person. Very well written.

Mary and charlie took back Bayside Seafood in Laurel. They have the best seafood. Mary inspects all crabs and other foods before putting it out for sale. Stop in and check it out. I know if you had an issue with that place it was because of the people who had it before. They bellied up in a year.

Want some good crabs to cook yourself? Show up at Dames Quarter about noon until 1PM. In this heat crabbers are usually coming in at that time to reduce the number of dead crabs.

Picking houses won't buy them if they've been sitting in the heat too long.

Buy some #1 jimmys right off of the boat. You get them cheaper and the crabber makes a few more bucks.

The old guy and his wife catch them with a line not fences or pots. They are way better caught like that.

To the IDIOT who keeps writing in all capital letter comments, have you gotten a clue yet that they're NOT being published. Now, if you want to act normal and put up a regular comment without all capital letter, so be it. Until then, they're all being rejected. I told you this the last time we posted in this place.

I had a great first experience there. Everyone was helpful and ready to show off the best deals they had there. We wound up with shrimp, blueberries, and some oysters, and everything was fresh as if it was just off the boat.

Anonymous 9:58 - I wrote the original post and I'm definitely not an employee or PR person. Just because someone is articulate and educated doesn't automatically disqualify them as being a legitimate post. I am simply a customer who wants a company that stands out to be recognized - no ulterior motives!

I might try some crabs from there if they take the sign down that says food stamps accepted. Its bad enough I support people who can buy crabs when I can't afford them myself. You don't have to advertise it. This is an example of "gettin over". Somebody explain to me otherwise.

This place is not customer friendly. I witnessed an altercation between the owner and a customer who had been waiting a long time for his order. The owner was rude and disrespectful. If this is the way they treat customers - I will NOT be giving him my business.

What a great place. Fat Boys was our "find" for the summer. They have always been great to deal with and the crabs have been done to a t, rather than mushy like some places in town who re-steam them when the customers order them - after they have been steamed earlier in the day. I also found everyone there to be extremely nice and easy to deal with.

You can't ask for a better place. They care about their customers unlike many of the other seafood places in town who act like they are doing YOU a favor by selling you crabs. Kudos to them all!

I've patronized Fatboys in the past for their steamed crabs and picked crab meat. The crabs on one occasion appeared to be reheated instead of being freshly steamed(on a holiday)and the crab meat was full of shell.Last month I tried their "kitchen" menu today, deciding to purchase lunch for a couple of coworkers and myself.I placed my order in advance about 45 mins prior to when I planned to pick it up.I arrived and found not only was the order taken incorrectly but cooking hadn't even begun.I commented that I only had 1/2 hr lunch,to which I received the reply "at least you have a break".Once back at work I found the catfish I ordered undercooked, fried shrimp overcooked and the grilled tilapia falling apart.I called and spoke with the owner explaining what had transpired advising him our office had actually considered using them for a luncheon. His response was to ask me to bring the food back to him, which would only be possible after my work day ended and if my coworkers wanted to go hungry.I could tell he could care less. That's my last time giving them my money.I'd rather go to Skipjacks instead.

Fat boys is horrible! I had an altercation with the owner because he tried to sell me cold crabs on fathers day. When I asked politely why they were cold, he told me to take it or leave it as he did not have time to fix them. I said I would take them but would not be back. At this, he took the crabs back and told me he didn't need customers like me anyways! Please do not patronize this establishment. Also, I have never gotten sample shrimp and had been there plenty of times before the fathers day incident.
