Resume: Delaware State Troopers and emergency personnel are currently on the
scene of a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 southbound at the top of the Roth
Bridge.
Middletown- Officials from the scene have advised this crash involves one confirmed fatality. Four individuals have been transported to Christiana Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
This will be the final release this evening. A more thorough news release will
be provided tomorrow after the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction
Unit completes their initial investigation.

There was so much smoke that you could see the black plumes from Barbs Farm neighborhood by Gunning Bedford Middle School. We could see the flames from the house. We knew something bad had happened, but we didn't know what it was.
After officials arrived on the scene, we could see that the whole bridge was lit up from one end to the other with flashing lights.
