DEAR DOCTOR: YOU’VE BEEN “DISSED” BY BARACK!

In his big media event the other day, Obama gave an example of how health care cost can be controlled under his plan -- a kid has a sore throat (he then made it multiple sore throat events) and the doctor, solely to make more money than using standard therapy, advises removal of the tonsils. The clear implication is that this is the norm in medicine today, regardless whether the procedure is efficacious or necessary. It reveals Obama’s ignorance not just of medical ethics, but also that docs who normally would see kids with sore throats don’t do tonsils. Or does he think they get kickbacks from those who do?

Anyone who thinks ObamaCare would not destroy the doctor-patient relationship is an IDIOT!

I saw your post on 2 bits (due to inflation) who is that 2 bits guy since he won't put his name up there.

This is a poor example of it, but Doctors DO regularly offer expensive tests or treatments that are just to sate the patient. My own Pediatrician admits that though it's really best to let a fever run its course, since most parents freak out, she gives kids Tylenol in the office to make the parents feel better. I have friends who have aches and pains that ANYONE could easily deduce may simply be due to being overweight, but they go to the Dr and INSIST on MRI's because they are sure there is some pill that will fix them. The Drs go along because they know a patient who hears, "the problem is that you are overweight" won't come back and won't change.

Most Americans DO abuse/far overuse their health insurance. We are a greedy, lazy country, and we need to face up to it.

I agree with you. Posting anonymously leaves absolutely no credibility. That site is nothing but a chat room (like some others out there) for places to drink and eat. They should re-name that blog "TWO SNAPS UP." If I wanted to visit a gay chat room I'd at least like to know where I'm at.

Our illegitimate president has an agenda to destroy all good things in this fine country. I love my country but I fear my government. kn

Easy now! While I personally agree with some of what has been said, does it really matter if it's a gay Blog or not? I think not. Let's get back on topic, shall we.

Oh, two snaps up was funny though.

Joe, it does explain why they stay anonymous though. Just sayin.

OK, OK, OK! This is not the topic of this Post. While I thought about creating a new Post about them, I refuse to start that crap here on Salisbury News. They're good people and I'm not going there.

Obama shows his ignorance once again. Now it's doctors who are making decisions about medical procedures based on the amount of revenue those procedures can bring in.

Earlier, when touting reforms concerning wall street, the big O likened investors to Bernie Madoff.

Now, I am an investor, and have some stocks, and an on-line trading account. But I have not done anything illegal, or close to initiating or participating in any ponzie scheme.

To liken all investors in this manner, as if we are all engaged in illegal activity is again showing immense ignorance on his part.

I suppose that any crook from Chicago thinks that since he was/is a crook, then we all must be? That is the message I'm receiving from such rhetoric.

And if you are a successful investor, Obama has you in his sights to "pay a bit more" in taxes.

Some doctors now are overzealous in suggesting their referrals and treatments but I think it has less to do with "kickbacks" and more to do with the extreme fear of being sued. They are loathe to miss something so they go overboard on ordering tests and other stuff to practice "CYA".When you have an entire industry that advertises on TV telling people that they can "win millions" in malpractice suits, you get where we are today.
