Our Orwellian President, Obama, in order to raise money for his health care plan without increasing taxes (this is part of the deal for passage of this atrocity) is planning to save 1/2 Billion dollars by cutting Senior Citizens Medicare benefits and by helping them commit suicide so they are "no longer a burden on our Medicare System.". This is UNCONSCIONABLE and must be stopped.
It pains me to learn that at 69, I, a father of 6, a grandfather of 12, suffering with arthritis, high blood pressure and survivor of a 7 bypass heart operation is considered expendable and a "BURDEN" to the country I helped to defend as a younger man and sent my sons to defend, by the President of that very same country..
AARP has sold out the seniors it purports to support by supporting Obamacare because they were promised by Obama to be HIS Health Care Plan administrator. This is worth BILLIONS to AARP. This is why AARP supports OBAMACARE. Their support was bought plain and simple. The fact that they are acting as a "Judas Goat" to the people they are an advocate for is deplorable. I have canceled my AARP membership and throw all their propaganda into the trash without opening it. I suggest you do the same, as these S.O.B.s do not deserve anything but our scorn.
Drop your AARP coverage. They are traitors to Senior Citizens.

ON PAGE 425 OF OBAMA’S HEALTH CARE BILL, the Federal Government will require EVERYONE who is on Social Security to undergo a counseling session every 5 years with the objective being that they will explain to them just how to end their own life earlier. Yes...The Government is going to push SUICIDE to cut Medicare spending!

As soon as I turned 50, AARP started sending me junk wanting me to join up with them
Due to their liberal stance on many issues, I refused to sign up, or support them in any way. This only confirms my suspicions that they are there to serve themselves in the name of serving seniors.

They're one of the biggest special-interest lobbyists.. they've been lying about their membership numbers for years (padding them by offering 'free' temporary memberships to millions, then claiming them as members)

I don't think the counciling sessions are truly to instruct old folks to commit suicide. however, requiring "end of life" counciling and discussing death with seniors seems a bit harsh to me.

All of you need to read page 16-19, and Pages 425-431. You will then see that once you change jobs or make any changes to your insurance, you must drop it and accept the handout. Then you will learn that when you're old, you will be denied treatment based on the "probability" of you getting better, or have much life left in you.

The AARP is nothing more than a Union who survives and assures the job security of its Union Leaders by scaring Seniors.
I joined AARP when I arrived at the eligable age, it only took me a couple of years to realize that AARP was "in it" for AARP not the individual senior.
It's only if you CHOOSE to leave this life. Jeez gang, how about some resonable discourse and not just a bunch of reactionary hogwash!
Obamas health care plan cuts health care to the elderly but it requires federal funding for abortions. Taxpayers will be required to fund abortions and health care providers will be required to perform abortions. This bill is all about the Government deciding who lives and who dies.
No way am I giving up my AARP card. I don't read the newsletters, but I do love that my car insurance through AARP/The Hartford is half of what I was paying Progressive! Better coverage, too.
