Sherwood Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep Says Goodbye To Salisbury

The Dealership Lot is just about empty, a For Sale Sign is posted on the property and the few vehicles left on the front lot have the notice above stating you can come across the street and talk, for whatever that's worth. I wonder how many more jobs have been lots here in Salisbury because of this Dealership closing down? Then again, where do you take your vehicle to be serviced now? Seems like almost every Dodge Dealership locally is closing their doors. You wouldn't catch me buying anything American other than Ford at this point.

The building closed, but they are still selling Chrysler, Jeep, etc. across the street. They even have a Dodge showroom over there.

"You wouldn't catch me buying anything American other than Ford at this point." I'm sure that mindset is one of the reasons American companies are failing left and right now days. Even IF the dealers go under there are PLENTY of mechanics that have the knowledge and training to work on American products.

I have never in my life owned anything other than an American based vehicle and I never will buy anything other than that because this is America!! Support the country and our people.

I remember when that building was the bowling alley. It was a place for young and old to go have fun. I hope whomever buys the building would consider something besides another car dealership.

I think you'll have plenty of time to wait and see. It's not going anywhere any time soon. Perhaps 10 years?

My son wanted to purchase a Honda Element a couple of weeks ago. We started a search thru e-bay etc. we called a local dealer, Price Buick. I was told they had two new 2008's in Dover. He ask name/phone number he would call us back. I waited 3 hours and no call so I called him back. He said no one called him with the information. I waited aawhile and then I called Dover, Price dealership. I got the information I needed and ddrove to Dover and picked up the vehicle I wanted. I am very pleased with the vehicle. BUT I am not pleased with the salesman (I use that word sparengly). If the dealerships are in such bad shape why are they not helping to sell their product. We were on the lots of new/used all in the same area and the salesmen would just mope around and give us a card. If you need them they would be inside????My son had 50% of the money in cash to purchase the car and finance the other for aproximately 2 months. Word to the wise "Dont judge a bood by its cover."

They consolodated into one building. The Ford store across the street. They are selling the Chrysler buiding but still selling Dodge products. This happened months ago (like February?), why is it news now?

Just wondering?

Its news because it was never posted here and I never read anything about it elsewhere, SO ITS NEWS.

That being said, I own a Chrysler PT Cruiser that gets about as bad in gas milage as my Hemi V-10 Pickup Truck, SERIOUSLY!

I'll never buuy a Dodge or Chrysler product again. That's how Joe Albero feels, how about you Folks?

Just wondering, who goes to Price Buick to buy a HONDA? The post is about buying American brands-not about buying a car from the dealer who doesn't sell them.

Hey maybe duck pin bowling will come back to that building. I used to bowl there in a duck pin bowling league. We had fun for many years.

Be nice to have have a 10 pin/duckpin alley again, a good restaurant, bar and pool tables.

Its a shame that our government is forcing Chrysler to close the dealerships. They are monopolizing the area so they can make more profit (Higher Cost). For Example: You want to purchase a Dodge Pickup. Instead of going to a few dealerships in one area to check pricing you will only be able to go to one. Now they can't compete with each other. So instead of cutting cost they will be making them more expensive. So we are the real losers here.

Now that we own Chrysler and GM it should be in our benefit to buy them so the government can make profit and sell their share and pay off debt. But they wont... they will just spend more money. This administration is a joke.

Sorry but I but a car from Sherwood and it was the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned. I was at work one day and my car alarm started going off and wouldn't stop. When I called the buttholes at Sherwood they said they couldn't fix it til tomorrow. I said that's fine, I'm going to bring it over to your lot and let you listen at the car alarm going off all day, all night and part of the day tomorrow. They decided to fix it quickly. Their service dept. stunk. So for me if Sherwood went completely out of business, I would be happy. When you repeatedly treat your customers like crap, it's going to come back and haunt you. I know of soooooo many other individuals who have been through similar circumstances with them. So bye bye Sherwood. You are getting exactly what you deserve!!!

i bought a jeep liberty from sherwood, i have nothing to say but great things about them. when my gas gauge went up they got it in right away, fixed the problem, and even did a repair that was going to be recalled, after calling me about it. id buy from them again anytime

I tell you what really sucks...The Wicomico County Sheriffs Department just bought 5 brand new chargers not too long ago! Not that it was a poor decision on Lewis' behalf because the Charger is a great police vehicle, but it might hurt later on for maintenance and repair costs for the County.

There is a new alley opening that has duckpin. It is in Laurel in the old Food City building. It looks really nice and is supposed to open in August. Joe can you do a story about it so we can get some more details?

I've bought two vehicles from Sherwood since 2003 and have always had great service. Very responsive and courteous anytime I have been in there for service and repairs, whether under warranty or later after the warranty expired.

i love it when people say they had a great service experience when replacing a part that fails after a few years of use....this is the reason people buy foreign...parts aren't supposed to fail right after you buy it! like 11:21's comment about a broken gas gauge? how does that even happen? considering it's a chrysler product i'm surprised the transmission didn't explode. crap quality and crap vehicles. i'm proud to buy anything made in this country that is well made and worth it but i'm not a sucker that'll be taken to the cleaners! god bless the UAW and their quality craftsmanship.

I won't buy my vehicles from Salisbury period. You get better negotiations over the bridge. My last three vehicles I bought were purchased in Harford County. I tried to get the dealers here to offer me anything close to the deal I could get there but no deal so I will continue to buy over the bridge.

Hey 9:32, before you go judging all dealers on how they do business, maybe you should have gone to your local Honda dealer(Pohanka) and inquired about a Element first, and maybe you would have been treated better. The people at Pohanka Honda have been the most pleasent people i have delt with in years for not only sales, but service too.The salespeople do care about the customers needs and do not mope around and make u go inside to get them.Im sure there may be some salespeople out there like that, but not there.Oh and by the way, Honda is not in bad shape, because they sell the best product, which you seem to understand now.Congarts on your new Honda, but dont judge dealers on your experience somewhere else.
