Turns out the gunman was from the eastern shore.

That is exactly the attitude I dislike about the locals here in Delmarva (the from here's as you put it). Most of you have an attitude of expectancy. You feel like you are owed something. Most look down on those of us with a college education (or higher). You want all 'outsiders' to leave you alone, so you can revert back to a simpler way of life. Well sorry to say, but times are changing, the world is evolving, and it is time to move on. Go get some culture sometime. Maybe you should venture to that big scary place beyond the Bay Bridge. You might even like what you see.

If you don't like the "locals' attitudes" then get outta here. Went over the bridge, stayed there for a while and hated it. There was nothing but rude, nasty individuals just like you. No one said please, thank you or your welcome. Doors slammed in your face cause everyone is in too much of a hurry and too selfish to wait an extra 30 seconds to hold open a door. So since our attitude is so poor and since we are so terrible to you, you can leave if you don't like it here.
I seriously doubt he took a long gun on a metro train or bus, and really hope he didn't drive himself....so maybe we could use all that surveillance equipment that was going to help make us safer to figure out how he got there.

Dude, have you been shopping around here at all lately, or had a job where you had to deal with the public? Granted, there are a great number of very nice people here and I run into many of them daily, but this place is not free of rude, self-centered, overbearing, need-machines (and its not just the "come-heres" that have an attitude.)
Generalizations never work. This place has its moments, but it is not nirvana, and probably never really was.
I think what this man did was horrendous but I also am curious of his motivation all you see on the news is a white man full of hate but why ? White men have been the target of legalized racism for 40 years that kind of frustration is going to be let out in some manner. Just look at the news when a black or Asian does something similar their either in a gang or have mental disorder a white person is just a hater.
